I tried to get out of the shop to look around a little yesterday evening. Ran over to the neighbor's woods, found two and my phone went off. That was the end of my hunt last night.
Today, we had an incredibly busy lunch so I didn't get home for long. Decided I'd run back over to the neighbor's woods and again found two in the 15 minutes I had to look. It was a cold 4 wheeler ride over!

Circleville. I've checked twice here at home at a favorite spot. NADA!

Yeah, I don't understand it! I checked my favorite place twice, within the last 7 days. Not so much as an inkling of a shroom. The weather hasn't been ideal, warm and wet for those things to pop up.

I am convinced the blacks are up pretty good. I have found enough of them this year for a couple of meals, and I usually cannot find the black ones at all. They are HARD to see, for me. If I'm finding them, they have to be up pretty good. I probably walk passed 10 for every one I find. A person's eye has to get trained to them (at least mine do), because they look like a walnut shell or something instead of a pretty yellowish shroom. Just my thoughts, but it could be they just aren't up for you guys yet. As for me, I'm done looking until the net round starts popping. Horsetails and yellows should be a breeze for us to find after all the straining to see the black ones! Then again, maybe you guys don't have the difficulty seeing them that I do... here is a pic to test yourself. It's in the middle...

Got home yesterday and while I was mowing, I noticed three dried up morels on the hill by the road. Went out this evening to check on them and found about three dozen across the hillside. Decided to leave them until tomorrow evening or Friday to see how they grow. Can't wait to fry a batch up!

The neighbor found some in his yard yesterday. Guess its time to get back out and look again.

Found my first spike of the year on my way out from turkey hunting this morning. I didn't have time to look for more, but this one looked to be in pretty bad shape anyway.
