Couple dog peckers.....not like you usually find them around here

I found about 300 this week well above the bottoms on hillsides and flats below elm.

Has anybody found any dog peckers or "half frees" as the rural Appalachians call them? I haven't found a single one this year which is very unusual for the areas I hunt.

I have a spot that is normally loaded with dog peckers and it hasn't produced a single one so far this season.

I haven't found any. It has been the topic of conversation around here as the spikes are kinda like the bluegill of the mushroom world. Strange year.

Getting reports of locals finding 20-30 or so yellows the last few days, hitting it tonight and probably every evening that work permits this week, will keep ya'll posted.

Found about 20 yellows today. they were getting a pretty dry but, I picked them anyway.

Found 46 yellows today with my uncle in an old apple orchard, they were pretty fresh. If we get rain today this weekend should be real good IMO

I found over 100 wednesday evening/thursday morning.

Mostly yellows, and id say about 80 percent where fresh.

Usually i only find a handful. Must finally be catching on after a couple years.
