This is about my old man, my dude, my best friend. June 5th he ran into some very unexpected troubles that has taken him out of the workforce. Last Thursday he undertook brain surgery. Surgery went well until the last minutes of the procedure. He had two hard seizures that got him pretty messed up. Times are tough and things are forever changing but he has a hell of a battle ahead of him.

He hates donations but he’s going to need a little help in the coming months. I’ve never known him to turn down a beer, so That’s why we named it his beer fund.

Many of you and others know about this situation and have asked to help, this is the best way to help us at this point. Thanks in advance!

That was harder to post than I thought it would be... I went back and forth about posting it. Bottom line I came up with is that people want to help and I’m cutting them short by not asking.

I don’t really know how it all works. But I can say that if $2 is what you have to share, that’s perfect! It cost my mom $2 a day to park here at U of M. So every little bit counts.

Trying to put together a few things and running into more questions... We want to have multiple raffles for things, but we just shown a legal side of raffles. Many of you have done this and I’m wondering how it’s conducted legally.

We have quilts, muzzleloader, a pair of Michigan vs Ohio state tickets and other things people are giving us daily for raffles. How can I do this without becoming a 4th degree felon?

Can’t even help people without fucking yourself! 😡

State by state is different. I was hoping @cotty16 or @Curran could help me along with anyone else that might know.

Are you asking for legal advice on gun raffles? If so, I’ve never done the leg work on our booster gun bash so I really don’t know the ins and outs of it. I just know we use the local gun shop as the middle man and they do all the background checks and stuff on site.

If you are wondering about something else, I must’ve missed it.

I was wondering how you do the raffles, but I already know now. You said booster...schools are exempt from the raffle laws.

Dave.... Just read this thread... I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad... He will be in my prayers for a full recovery... As for fund raisers try contacting your local fire Dept, maybe they can organize a beef steak dinner with raffles... I'm sure this then would be legit....
That’s a hell of an idea, I’ll check with his local volunteer station when I go back up this week. I know a few of the guys on it.
