Quick update. Small bucks and does are all over the golden acorns. Two photos of shooter deer since September 30th. Nothing to write home about. I refreshed a feeder yesterday and had 5 different bucks and probably 9 does on it this morning…. Gonna give it until this cold weather this weekend to get back in the woods. Should get them up and moving. Also found a couple pictures of two separate packs of yotes moving through almost on a nightly basis. While I was in Sunday I did find quite a bit of fresh sign though. Hoping for something special this weekend

Another little update for everyone. Buck activity has picked up ten fold in the past four days. Mostly nocturnal activity with younger bucks but my two shooters have been showing up 2/3 times a day since Monday. I don’t know if the slightly cooler weather has them on their feet but they are damn sure moving! Here’s a couple pictures for you guys! And one for @giles 😂

After a long hard weekend and Monday in the tree with over 30hrs of tree time, my shooter buck did not come in. The intense swirling wind in the valley I was hunting I think really threw me off along with rainfall and overall pressure in the surrounding woods. I tried different entry points, all day sits and tried to be as consistent as possible all weekend. I learned a lot about deer movement through certain draws and saw a ton of deer as well as some really interesting encounters with several different bucks! Really gets me excited for the next few weeks of hunting! I have a little plan to try to get closer to that bucks bed this coming weekend with the next front approaching, so we shall see what happens. Oh and btw, he came through at 10am today…. Have a good week TOOville I’ll check in Friday!

Here’s a decent new fella, for this year, to a piece I have permission to hunt. Along with a close up of “oak”. Had encounters with the droptine buck last year.

Another new comer to the piece of permission I haven’t seen all year. After last night I’m wondering if he is the one I saw in the downpour. He came through right after first crack and just passed through a scrape line that’s brand new. This next couple weeks is going to get interesting

So I tried my hand at scoring oak last night before i put him away in the freezer. I can’t stop looking at him. Everyday the thought of sending that arrow and living in those exact moments just continue to run through my head. Knowing all my hard work and dedication finally paid off this year. After finding Oaks shed last year ultimately about 60 yards away from where I killed him this year, it lit a fire. Just absolutely unbelievable to me! By no means the biggest deer in Ohio, BUT… that moment of taking my first buck here in Ohio, MY FIRST MATURE BUCK AT THAT, my first non typical scoring buck and after last night with a rough score, my first deer over 155 inches! I had a neighbor of mine come score him roughly to give me an idea of how to do it and he wanted to see him! Been smoking a front shoulder and a rack of his ribs all day, reminiscing the hunt and this season so far…. Couldn’t ask for a better end to my vacation! Back to the grind tomorrow! Good luck to everyone on their quest for bucks this year and I appreciate all the kind words an knowledge you guys have shared with me! Trying to skip ahead a little, I have attached a few pictures of next years project that has shown up for the past month….. we shall see what happens the rest of season! Time to focus on family and work as well as filling the freezer with does the rest of the year! The boys are still iffy after my oldest made a poor shot on that BB. We will be back after it soon though!

Alright so I’ve been pretty MIA since killing oak but I have been quite busy with household chores like finishing the basement and helping my family get on deer. I still have four active feeders and a ton of deer I’m watching throughout the rest of the year… one buck in particular that i actually have a year and a half of history with is a buck I like to call Bruce. Last year his body was absolutely incredible. Decent main frame 10. No giant by any means but was a stud to me last year. I have had a few velvet pictures of him and he has been very consistent since mid to late November. He has added a ton of trash to his antlers along with split brows and about 10-15 inches of antler growth over all! I’ll keep you all posted on new deer or deer that hit these piles but here is a couple better ones of him!

Peeeeeek a bo! The goal today was a freezer filler behind the house which will tag me out for guernsey. Then on to filling the boys tags! I MAY even bring my little girl out to hunt with me this weekend! She’s been asking a lot about it and been very interested over the past couple years but I think she’s finally ready to let one go

“Oak” is home!!! Rob did a fantastic job with him. Absolutely outstanding. Exactly 2 months and three week turnaround time. Couldnt be happier. Rob also said he was the biggest based deer he mounted this year so that was an extra bonus considering he did 11 deer this season over 190”. Looking forward to getting his final resting place set up! But that’s a wrap on my 2021-2022 season!!

If you guys remember the broken jaw buck that was taken a couple weeks after I took oak by my FIL he’s home too! He turned out great! If he would have survived the broken jaw and all his pun took wounds and been able to withstand another winter and this summer he would have been an absolute stud this upcoming year. Awesome genetics ‘round here though lol
