N.J. 2018 Bear Season.....

Update on my bear... So the state called me today and gave me the following info... He was originally handled in 2008 as a yearling. At which time he got tattooed. He weighed 132 lbs when he was handled.. Being a yearling at that time means he was born in Jan. 2007 making him 10 yrs. 10 months old... He was handled approx. 20 miles away... So like some of us he was an old timer... Wonder what he weighed at the peak of his life?

Actually both Pa. and Jersey have a pretty extensive bear program... Approx every March both states go out and tag cubs that were born that year... They are found from the mother wearing a radio collar... Ive been invited along and it is cool as hell to handle the cubs... They are tagged tattooed so that they can be tracked throughout their life...
