New bow?

I have shot with a lot of different types as releases as well. FOr hunting I currently use a scott wildcat or something like that. I forget what it is. FOr 3-D I use a Tru ball XT 360. I have had pretty good luck with it and I like the way it feels in my hand! I have shot Stans and I like them as well. I have also shot carters. I think releases are also a big personal preference and are very subjective. Some people like 3 fingers, some people like 4. I personally like 3 finger styled releases. For a while I Was carrying 2 360s in my release pocket for shoots. Each was set on a different tension. I have battled target panic and it seemed to help when I didnt know what release I was grabbing. Making when it would fire different depending on what release I had, so it just made me focus on my point of aim, and not on what the release was doing... My mechanics would stay the same, but I would be more focused on good form and proper back tension

Rutin, Ive been thinking about trying a thumb realses, but unless I googled the wrong thing those are 215 bucks? WOW I better love that thing ahahha

Yea they're pricey, find and archery shop that will let you shoot a few so you can see if you even like it. I have BIG hands so I have to shoot a 4 finger, I also put hockey tape around each finer groove for grip and cushion on my hand. You can find them on ebay and AT under classifieds sometimes for around $120-125

That's about what you'll shell out to get a Stan like mine. I think mine was $180-190. But it is one of those love it or hate it things and if you love it, you'll be ordering one with no worries on the price!

you shoot just backtension or thumb?

Ok thats it, I am just going to shoot every bow on the market.

Now that we have covered bows what realeses to you all like?

I loved my scotts lil goose, but might try something else, even a different style?

You're in Columbus right? Take a short hop up to skeeter creek and shoot Milo's Strother(s). I would bring mine to work and we could meet up and let you shoot it.. But I'm kinda lazy and it's easier for you to go see Milo as he can tell you all about bows down to the perfume the lady at the factory was wearing.

I am actually in Athens, I am going to shoot Jesse hopefully once he gets his. I aint in a rush to buy but just doing research early!

Just shoot as many as you can that meet what you want in a bow. Then make your purchase. I'm like you AT I love researching and comparing items before I buy.
I was going to get a vector turbo this year. Now I'm going to wait until the spyder turbo goes on closeout. Pretty much the same cams, limbs, and performance but the riser on the spyder looks better. I use a Scott deluxe Silverhorn for hunting and a Stan Shoot Off Quattro for target and 3d. I lost a shoot off bear hunting in 2011 so I'm a little hesitant to carry my new shoot off in the woods again.

Uggghhhh... That makes me sick just thinking about it.

Thats not even the worst part. My back up release failed me the same day (about a min after I realized I was missing my Stan) and I missed the chance to take a shot on a nice sized bear. I spent the rest of the evening frantically retracing my steps trying to find the Shoot off. I think I got drunk and made a bunch of stupid posts on TOO when I got home that night. Most unlucky hunt of my life. We have derailed like 2 threads now Jim-bo...way ta go.

lmao oops

I'm one of the guys who hates shooting a thumb release. I have one for a back up since it's small in the pack. Tried it for the summer, just couldn't stand it. Went back to my original Fletcher.
