I agree that any shit is better than no shit! Lol. Ain't disagreeing with ya on that Huck. Manure is great fertilizer, but I would put horse on the bottom of the list. Not that it's not good, just not preferred. IMO. However, I do love to grow a garden and I treat it like one of my kids. There's nothin more enjoyable, than feeding your family, with veggies that you yourself grew. I will definitely be following this thread this year. I am always looking for good ideas and willing TOO learn.

Find someone with rabbits. I hear this is very nice fertilizer. I am getting some this year as well. Just not sure which variety of manure I am getting yet.

Got the rest of our garden in on 5/4. Ended up with the following:

Radishes
Green Onions
Yellow Onions
Tomatoes: 8 better boy, 4 big boy, 4 beef steak
Peppers: 4 Jalapeno, 4 habanero, 4 green bell pepper, 4 Super Chili, 4 Serano
Cucumber
Musk Melon
Green Beans: 150 Seeds
Sweet Corn: 180 Seeds (planted in blocks of 60, the first block is in the 2nd will follow in 3 weeks, and the 3rd block 3 weeks after that). Did that so it all won't be ready at the same time.
Potatoes: Half row of Yukon Gold half row of Red skin.

This is the evening we planted, it was dry and the forecast was dry so we gave it some water when the sun went down. So far so good!

Awesome buddy! I like what I see.

Just a suggestion, take your grass clippings and cover around your maters and peppers. It really helps hold moisture and keeps you from pulling weeds.

Very nice looking garden. I wish I had half that much room. I just got a little 8'x14' patch. But that's better than nothing. The deer just ate the hell out of my tomatoes last year. Made my tomato plants look like friggin telephone poles. I got a little plan for them this year. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1368668149.442361.jpg

My plan is to get some compost Friday. My wife started a bunch in the basement. Not looking real great though. We will end up buying starts and finishing the planting when we are ready.

Well like I said earlier I don't have hardly any room at all for my garden but what little bit I do have I got planted yesterday. I planted 3 Better Boy and 3 Big Boy tomato plants, 3 Straight Eight cucumber plants, 3 Hungarian Wax Pepper plants and 3 Jalapeño Pepper plants. I guess one good way to look at it is I can have my entire garden hoed in about 10 minutes. :)

Got the tiller hooked to the tractor last evening. Tilled until a little after 9pm. Dump truck has 8yds of compost in it now. Going to till it into the soil today. Doubt I use it all. I have other uses for it though.

Any garden no matter the size is better than no garden Don. Looks good Don. If it weren't for my neighbor and his backyard I wouldn't have a garden. I have a huge front yard but the subdivision rules don't allow them in front of the residence.

Exactly and thanks. I just love growing stuff that the family and I can set down and enjoy. Nothing better than a nice thick slice of homegrown tomato on a thick juicy burger fresh off the grill.

I would much rather have Ricer's garden than Phil's! 2 bales of straw around those tomato plants and you won't need to hoe. Then again, Phil has kids to labor!
