One of the reasons for the site upgrade was the ability to add a robust portal homepage to showcase all of the things happening here on TOO.
The page is now created and filled with some content.
Featured Items
At the top of the page is a features slider that will scroll "Don't Miss" content that we want to feature.
Latest Media Gallery Images.
This block will display the latest images that members have added to their Media Galleries. Unlike the features block this content will not automatically scroll, however you can do so manually.
New Posts.
This is the 10 newest forum posts that you haven't personally read yet, they are sorted with the newest at the top. Clicking the "View More" link at the bottom of this block will take you to a complete list of unread posts. Once you read the content of a thread listed here it will disappear from the list until a new post is made to that post.
Articles.
This is a list of Articles that are front page worthy. They can either be purposefully written for the frontpage or promoted threads from the forum. It is here where we would like to concentrate on bringing you more quality content. From DIY Writeups, Product Reviews, Podcasts, Stories, News, Guest Writers, Q&A with Industry Pros, and much more! I'll be making a post shortly looking for members who want to become a contributing Author.
Donations Widget.
Since the beginning, We've promised that we would never inundate you with Advertisements. The Google and Amazon Ad that you've seen in the past paid just enough to cover the monthly Bill. The forum upgrade software and subsequent new features were all purchased with donations from members. We are committed to dumping those donations right back in to TOO to give a better experience.
You can View this new Homepage HERE. As of Sunday 6/10 IT will be the new landing page.
