Next weekend hunt

Hi All, I have never hunted before and I am looking for another bowhunter who has some experience to join me on my first hunt next weekend (12/29). Sounds fun right? I do not know anyone who has experience that is interested in going so I thought I would try my luck on a forum to see if anyone wants to help. I don't have a ton of money but I have a little cash so I can compensate anyone that joins me for their gas, time, and help. I think I need someone who can advise me on process, location, field dressing, etc. I am in southwest Ohio (Hamilton County). I could travel but I don't know if I could do more than a few hours. I don't care weather I hunt on public or private land as long as we have the proper permission. I want to do thing the right way and although I feel confidant that I could go out on my own on public land I worry that I'd be wasting a lot of time and I may not transport the deer properly because I've never done this before.

About me: I am 38 and have an office job to pay the bills and support my 2 kids. I am in decent shape so I can pull my own weight (and the deer's). I bought a PSE Ferocity 70 lb. bow about 2 months back and have shot it at my local range and outdoors from various angles at around 20 yards since then. I feel that I'm accurate on targets (3d as well). I have taken the online Bowhunter-Ed class for Ohio and I have everything I think I need although I'm sure an experienced hunter could tell me otherwise. I have a new Big Game 1.5 ladder stand that I can use but an also get a hanging stand if needed. I don't have a truck but I have an large SUV and can transport. I appreciate any advice or help someone can offer as I am really looking forward to this.

You are around an hour from me. This sounds like fun! Public land is buck only for the rest of the season. If I had a better deer population at the house I’d love to have you over and help. I just don’t this year. We do have some public land in the area. Weather isn’t what I’d call ideal for publivmland hunting. Wait till it gets stupid cold and I’d be happy to help. Cost you a thank you.

Welcome to TOO! We have a “hunting 101” section that has some good info.

Thank you so much. I'm all about going when it's stupid cold. Let me know what works. I really appreciate it.

Soooo... I went out this weekend anyway. Nothing good to report other than I sat in the woods (on the ground like a fool) for about 5 hours. I saw plenty of doe but no bucks. Probably for the best as I know I wouldn't be able to field dress it properly even if I was luck enough to take one. I know the season is is getting shorter so if anyone would like to meet up or has any ideas for me I'd greatly appreciate it. I'll miss work if I need to... I even considered paying people to hunt on their private land but the places I saw want thousands of dollars. Hope everyone else's hunts are going well.
