Life expectancy doesn't get any help when your gulf has all the silt, fertilizer runoff, and oil spills collected in it. When we vacationed there the local girls my son made friends with refused to get in the water. She said "No. We know what flows in there. Let's play beach volleyball."

It's not so much the ag runoff as it is leaky septic systems that create bacteria when the temps get high and theres a big rain that inundates it with fresh water. Everywhere on the coast battles that though. Go a few miles out to the island and it's perfect, let the tourists have the beach.
