Considering this trap is close to the neighboring line with the lady that feeds them. I figure I better start being a little quieter as she's sure to notice that Ricky, Ticky, Bandit, Paul, Ringo, Sonny, and now Cher aren't showing up anymore.

Yep. This one got the ole high standard pistol. I used to carry it on the trap line for this task. I don't care for it though. Between them looking up at me, and it looking like a German luger, theres just something that feels very weirmarchey about the whole task.
Fire coon, fire coon, fire coon.....let em know you mean business. That'll help close that German loop too.

Yeah. until it doesn't. Then you're standing on it with both feet and out of breath on strike number lost count feeling like a serial killer while it still flops around. Most times it works well at the base of the skull, but 1 in 20 will just refuse to die and turn into the undead. I gave up hitting them with things.
The real trick to a "thumper" is aim. Tap semi-hard on top of the head. If eyes turn to "stars", remove it from trap. Hold coon upside down by back legs. Downward motion w/slight angle... wack it at base of skull and neck point. If blood gushes from nose, coon is done.

Reference was in regards to the neighbors... but yer right .22 short in the ear does it.

Those CBs are 717fps and I put my thumb behind the slide. Just a little tick and a thump.
