I posted this the other day, but no one commented on it. I thought there was some interesting things on it especially the reason behind the implementation of the public land antlerless rules. He discusses the differences they notice on public vs private doe harvest. Also sounds like the Managment units will be implemented this coming year.
 
I listened to the entire podcast, thanks for posting it!

Overall, I'm happy with what he had to say. Some may recall, I was at one time extremely frustrated with the ODOW, Tonkovich in particular. They were painting with too broad a brush, resulting in over harvest in my neck of the woods. I like the fact that he mentioned Fayette County in particular. They may still be painting with a broad brush, but as much area as they are trying to manage, how could you not? I'd like to think those of us that took the time to be squeaky wheels at least brought to their attention that we needed a more narrow approach and perhaps that's what we will have going forward.

Glad to hear that some of you took the time to listen to it.

I thought it was pretty good myself, that's why I shared it.

The main take away for me was the true importance of the hunter surveys sent out from DOW/ONDR.

Something like less than 20% of the total surveys sent out are returned completed.

Rather unfortunate I’d say and hopefully that rate increases going forward.

From what I gathered from within the interview, it’s most likely the best way for a resident hunter to truly help the DOW/ONDR do a better job in setting good comprehensive regulations and/or making any sort of a critical adjustment to any wildlife management program and/or to maintain a good quality hunting experience for all.

So, if any of you received a survey in the mail or via email from ONDR/DOW recently and you truly do value your future hunting opportunities within the state, then I strongly recommend that you take the time to complete it and more importantly, return it at your earliest convenience.

“That’s a great question” he could’ve saved us 30 minutes of that video by not saying that every time.

The 7 minutes of listening to him talk about himself annoyed me, but glad he gave the background. Being that it sounds like he has been self learning about deer and deer hunting, I’d say the learning curve has angered many of us. I still listened because you delivered it different. I didn’t even click on @cspot thread because it had to Tonks name on it. I didn’t care to hear what he had to say. But once it popped up a second time...I felt like I was missing something.
