I used to feel the same way. You will age at some point. Your shoulders might give out, maybe your back. Quite likely your eyes. Possibly all 3 at the same time. Ethically, it was the right choice for me.
Now the typical 20 year olds that are using them, Not cool.
Fl allows crossbows in Archery 🏹 if you have medical note or some such from a Dr... which I fully support.

Yeah must be nice to be healthy. How about using a muzzle loader that shoots smokeless powder with a scope. Or a rifle instead of a shotgun during gun season. But hey crossbow hunters have an advantage. Suck me!

Since it was brought it up. 😅. 100% agree. Kids under 17 and approved application for disability plates for crossbows. Shotguns plugged to three rounds, muzzle loaders, and pistols only, no rifles. Ban cell cameras, camera on public land period, and baiting statewide. Quota hunt on tom turkeys and end season when 10k birds are checked. 😅 None of the above has anything to do with my disapproval or approval of any of those methods, it's purely about increasing the size of the deer and turkey population. 😅

Awe man. I've only done that three times in my life. Once when I was 18 and twice this morning.

You forgot about Turkey season….

It’s funny how much people love freedom until it comes to taking it away from others. I am a healthy crossbow hunter. I don’t play this game for you or what you wish you could shoot if everyone just followed your suggestions. I respect the rights of the individual.
Should baiting and cell cams be illegal? probably but if you want to feel like Jerimiah Johnson because you camped out over a pile when it’s 12 degrees out go for it. To each their own.

Stick around and do some more reading, hombre. Not much hate for other hunters here. Lots of support for all hunters across the board. Doesn't mean we all have to agree with weapons or the way eachother hunt. We can respectfully disagree here and still be happy or sad through the trials and errors of hunting. Just be legal and respectful to the game and you will find a great home here.

Absolutely. Shoot them with whatever legal method makes them dead.

Off thread and based off more hunting outside of Ohio than within- so a bunch of these are no-gos for the hometown Ohio team but i wanted to prime the pump

Bushog-ing standing corn

Using aerials to figure out others' access, plots and properties

Deer drives with a competent crew-

Hunting unposted land- can be rampant, and legal

Using a snowmobile for access in the deep snow

Spotlighting

Illegal most everywhere but happens all the time- Texting about a deer that leads to a harvest

A good centerfire off a tripod

A best of the best Crossbow or ML compared to where the intent started with a stickbow or flintlock

Cell cams legit, texting is a no-go. Copy

Planting a crop for the deer and then mowing it, not legit either.

Researching maps, no-go.

Using a steady rest also not a good idea.

Wtf, dude. Do you even hunt?

Not necessarily my tactics- just saying they're out there in use often (and elsewhere).

I do have a kick arse smokeless ML (but I have only bowhunted outside of NY though)
I have definitely looked beyond boundaries with aerials and will continue to do so.

Things like texting getting missed. "Hey man- there is a giant buck by the pull off where you hunt" (as you're on you way there) texted by random friend. Are you now not going to hunt there because there are a number of folks that would take that as electronic communication in a hunting context. Not me, not a problem in that context..... just saying anything left to interpretation will always have multiple perspectives. A cell cam pic that comes in from the "Plan B stand" when you were on the fence as to which to hunt is another example.

Game laws have little nuances too. If you hunt a number of other states this chit gets confusing (like where to sign on a license, how to notch a tag, habitat stamps, boundary rules/distances, etc).
