Ok lets see the traditional archery collections.

I thought I'd start off with a couple bows and something else I am very proud of.

I don't know if I really have any bows that are that great. But I do have a few neat ones.
The first is a Bear Grizzly. It was made in the 50's I think. I was told this bow almost put Bear out of business. So many of them broke. Mine is 62" 46# I saw one and thought they were really neat. I just wanted one for my collection. I never made a string for it. Didn't want to tempt myself to draw it back. I always had a 30" draw.

The second bow is a Damon Howatt 46# at 28" I picked this one up at a pawn shop about 20 years ago.

Here is one of my pride and joys. I don't know how I lucked out and talked myself into doing it. Back in the 1990's in Traditional Archery Mag. there was an add for Glenn St Charles, Legends of the Longbow. It was a collection of books that Glenn St Charles had in his own liberary. He was having them reprinted and the books are leather bound and gold embossed. I managed to sign up for the collection and received a book each month.

Each book was personally signed by Glenn St Charles and numbered. My set is #998 I got them all! I am sure that a lot of the people that signed up didn't complete the collection. I wonder how many complete sets there are out there?

Lets see some of your collections. Bows Arrows quivers. Lets keep this going like the Gun Porn Thread!

Ill start out slow.

This is the widow. 45@28 62 inches.
One of the smoothest bows I have shot. Ive killed all my trad deer with it. It used to be my uncles.

This is at the top of the riser.

"may the good lord be your outfitter and guide, may he cause you to shoot straight and
Allow the trophies you pursue to be worthy of the book."

I really like this bow. More things to come later.

Nice start to the Trad gear porn thread Steve! Thunderflight will be pleased i am sure!

Diablo- Very nice bow. For a youngster like yourself to have such a nice bow and use it for your hunting is quite impressive to me!

I will take a picture of mine when I get a chance, but I just have one picture to offer this thread. I will get there.

Diablo that is a nice bow. How many deer has it done in for you.

It is kind of funny. I bow hunted for about 14 years with a compound bow. I had taken squirrels and groundhogs but never got a deer. I would always hit a stick or something. I know where there is a tree with 2 broadheads stuck in it. I'll bet the tree has grown around them. It was from about 32 years ago.

The first year I went Traditional I got a doe.

Now my shoulders are so screwed up I don't think I could draw a bow.

That one has done 4 deer in 2 years.
It's azing what a good sharp 2 blade can do out of a 45# bow. Hopefully i'll be able to say 5 here in a little bit cuz im off to the woods.

At one time Three Rivers archery sold a little booklet on broad head performance. I think it was done in Africa on animals that were culled. I read it a long time ago.

They were testing the performance of 2, 3 and 4 blade broadheads. They found penetration was best with 2 blade. 3 blade was the worst.

I have always shot 2 blade. I have played with a couple different ones.

Earlier in the hunting season my uncle bought a pack of rage broadheads. My dad laughed at him. They did a penetration test and the 2 blade went through like butter while they struggled with the rages as they pushed.

Couple more bows and some books.

The first bow is a Red Wing Hunter. It’s a 58” bow and 68# It is a brute to shoot and at my draw length it was a finger pincher.

This is another Damon Howatt. I bought this one to try to teach my son to shoot traditional. He ended up shooting a compound. It is a 28” bow at 30#. My daughter wants to learn how to shoot a bow. She will be shooting this bow this summer.

Here are some good books on building bows I don’t know if there are any more in the series. I have been out of it for a long time.

I am finding out it is hard to take pictures of bows. They are so long may be I should start taking outside shots of them. Well see.

Old playhouse... They still play there that is how he teaches them to have fast reflexes!

Nice bows and arrows. Did you put the arrows together yourself? I mad a bunch of arrows and was really into dipping and cresting. I also used the shield cut feathers.

I didn't make these arrows but have made some in the past. These came from a guy in Ft Thomas Ky.
He makes a fine arrow but limited productions anymore. I need to get some more one of these days.

Well I got another bow out. This one I am a little proud of. The is the laminated long bow I made. It was the second one I made. This bow has a little deflex and reflex in the limbs.

In the first picture you will also see a back quiver and some arrows I made. There is a little medicine bag on the back quiver it is made of the tanned hide of the first deer I harvested. It has some little items I consider good luck inside. I keep it inside the quiver. I pulled it out so it could be seen for the picture.

I took a few pictures of this one so it could be seen better.

The next picture you can see how I laced the leather grip.

The lamination you can see is red elm and the nock is co-cobolo wood.

I made a walnut riser and there are 3 laminations on the back of the bow and 1 on the belly.

Very nice. I would love to get one, but not sure the joints would appreciate it.

mike they come in all different sizes . you can get a 25 lb bow and have as much fun shooting rabbits and skerls as you would deer . 40 lbs is more than enough to get a good sharp straight flying arrow through a deer .

What do I need to look for as far as length and all of that? I'm 6'2".
