They’re fiber optic with a modem already attached too the house.

Fiber to the house is awesome. Only have the coaxial cable from the side of the house to the modem so that'll be nice. Only company around here that does it is Armstrong Cable in Ashland.

Might call the local internet providers tech line. Talking to a local technician might help you get an idea for the standard in your area. (Not to dismiss Redcloud or anyone else's suggestions.)

I agree with the others that ASUS and Netgear both make a great product. My last two have been Netgear and outside of a firmware upgrade that didn't go as smooth as it should have, I have had zero issues.

I also agree with the external antennas, they make a huge difference.

If you don't want to go too expensive on the router, you can always add Netgear Powerline Adapters to extend your wifi signal to other floors/rooms of your house. I use them to get signal to my garage and they work great.
