Pest Control

I can't help but share an anecdote that's always in the back of my mind when applying insecticides. I don't recall all the details, but @Fluteman and I grew up with a buddy who had a schizophrenic episode (or many if memory serves me right) after their home was sprayed for termites when he was a teenager (circa 2000 or so). I remember it being a bit of an ordeal for him and his family that seemed to last a good while before it remedied itself (assuming he'd agree that there were no lasting effects). One of those things that stuck with me.

Interesting. Cyclodiene was used back in the 80s and would do that but it was banned in 1988. Fipronil (Taurus and Termidor) is pretty safe and has decades of human exposure data through topical pet treatments etc. With that said, none of it is good for you, I always wear gloves and when using my blower, eye protection, respirator and gloves as theres a larg risk of small droplet inhalation with the blower.

I just got done with the first application as the mosquitoes and salt gnats were getting bad here.

I used the Stihl mist blower or as @giles calls it the "Bugfucker 3000" 🤣 I treated all the vegetation such as bushes and tree canopies as well as shaded spots with Bifen IT, an IGR to break the lifecycle, and a permethrin for quick knockdown. I went with Bifen IT as I plan to retreat in a couple weeks so there isn't a need for time release. I just want to knock them down and get a solid base.

I treated the lawn with Onslaught and some leftoverTriazicide ( Gamma-cyhalothrin) that I found on clearance somewhere.

You can somewhat see the "mist" in the last Pic, for what you can see it's aboit 3x thicker than that. That blower really blasts it up, under, and around vegetation. Really broadcasts it to fuck em where they live. Zero escape. I do it right at dark as the air is cooling so the mist falls and the wind is minimal.
