Gathered permission to cross a field. I do so every year for better access to one of my properties. Haven't been able to catch the guy at home u til tonight. Good news? It is fresh if it hasn't been trespassed on.
My two main hunting buddies are trying to get me permission on their other properties. One of them has health issues preventing him from hunting right now. They talked and approached me about hunting the other parcels. I wasn't going to say no. They know I won't do them dirty. Pretty nice to have friends who genuinely hope their buddy connects as much or more than them. I always try like heck to help them if I'm done. They do the same for me. It is the way it should be but in this day and age it doesn't happen as often as it should. The one with good health has been working 7/12s. He can't even scout. So in reality, if I have permission my hunting will be his scouting. It is a win win.

North end of property east. Saw one doe. 60-80yds away in the thick stuff. Oh well. Did a little scouting on foot to confirm my suspicions since I hadn't been on this portion of the property all fall. Yep. Scrapes and rubs galore. Scrapes the size of my truck hood. 10yds away from the property line. Looked like a cattle path. Unfortunately, I cannot risk shooting one this close to the line. The neighboring property owner is "one of those guys". He will go where he wants, trespass, and do what he wants. Don't do it to him though. Sad fella. I would hate to be him. Miserable person. That is okay. I will change things up a bit and see if maybe I can make it happen during gun season.

NE wind tomorrow afternoon. Did something to my shoulder. My last chance to get out before gun season unless I can slide out Sunday. Doubt it. Have a family gathering Sunday. Looks like I better get my stuff done this morning and hunt it hard tonight.
Plan? Ground attack. Crossbow unless shoulder is feeling better. Need a little luck. I've got some amazing sign in the area. Have a 50/50 shot at where they are coming out. The wind is perfect for it. No trees I can hang and hunt in this area. Ghostblind will have to work. Wish I had a ghuillee suit.

No promises on blood trails. Been settled in for half an hour though. Chickened out on ground attack. In a climber high. Good visibility. Hope to learn something here about next week. If not? Good to be in a tree. Even on a short sit.
Looking down an old mowed tractor path towards a power line. Thicket in front of me to the south. Plowed field 15yds east of me. ENE wind. Hoping a big boy cruises this west field edge looking for second estrous or late does.

Last hoorah for me until gun season. Took climber. Saw a decent rack thru the trees. Couldn't tell if shooter or not. Later saw 3 does pop out about 100-150yds away. Nothing following but they were skittish. Later saw buck come back thru again. He was 60-80yds away in the thick stuff. Wrong side of the thick stuff. Grunted. Hit can call. He stopped but wouldn't commit. Nice 10pt. At last light had the three does come thru with a buck pestering them. He looked to be a three year old in the binoculars. It was getting late. Couldn't tell if he was short tined or busted up. They were about 40yds out. Really enjoyable hunt.
