Pocket Knives & Daily Carry Items

Leatherman wave is what I carry around the farm. I have a SOG fisherman's in my fishing bag.
Cheap Gerbers for me. I'm hard on carry knives so that are basically throwaways for me. I keep em sharp and use them for whatever. My task-oriented knives (field dressing, butchering) I keep in safe places.

My carry knife usually depends on my needs of I know ahead of time.

For a fixed blade I love the ESEE. It is a bit bulky if I am carrying it and a pistol. Start feeling like Batman with a utility belt. For right around $100 it is a huge bargain. Carpenters pencil for size reference.
The Kershaw is what I keep in my truck. I usually try to switch out to it when I am pulling into the job. I beat it and don't care. The half serrated blade is good for strapping, rope, cording and the like. I get these for like $20 and for an assisted opener it is a great value.
The Benchmade Mini Griptilian is a great, little knife. I wouldn't carry anything smaller. I tend to not carry it as much as some because of its size. I HIGHLY recommend Benchmade. Great locks and quality overall.
The ZT 0561 is what I carry most. Probably too big for most but it is my favorite. It is also very expensive. I got a deal. For the size it is light because the frame is titanium. I would also recommend ZT due to quality and CS.
If I were buying new today I would be looking at ZT, Benchmade, and Spyderco.

I'm liking these ZT's you guy are posting… I've never owned one. I have a couple Spyderco's and have never carried them more than a week. They seem brittle to me.
Gerber, Kershaw, and currently a Coast. Left front pocket. Generally my go to knives. Carry a cheap no name I bought when I was 16 or 17 in the right front pocket. No pocket clip. Think I only gave $12-15 for it at the time. Been with me a long time. Sentimental reasons I guess is why I carry it along with it being a nice back up knife. I have broken Kershaw and Gerber. In fact, I need to return a couple for repairs right now. This is why I dropped $20-30 on the Coast at the local Ace Hardware. Just needed a cheap knife to beat on which had a lifetime warranty.
I have a couple of Randell's fixed blades from back when he designed the RAT group for Ontario. I've got the 3,5,&7. I've got another one he designed also made though Ontario but I can't remember the name of it right now. It's down in the safe, I'd have to dig it out to look. It's along the lines of something you'd see in a movie, maybe use it to clear brush or something…friggin HUGE!
Haha, I agree. I used to carry a fixed blade when I lived in Alaska. I carried a .45 for my right hand and a good solid knife for my left hand. It work great for digging holes to shit in.

Beeners esee 3 and my lt wright only have 3 to 3.5 inch blades. i love carrying a fixed blade it doesn't take up any pocket space. I use it for everything I'd use a similar length folder for. I really like pouch sheaths sit at your belt line so the handle doesnt hit you in the side.
