Always good to learn something new Denny. Now you know. At the end of the day it is just a number but it does let people know a ballpark how big a buck is when someone tells them the score.
I learned the 4 mass measurements this year from my neighbor, he took the P&Y scoring class, he schools me all the time and I appreciate him passing on the knowledge just like you did here.
His statement is a +125 net 8 pt is a "Great 8" ... dandy buck. Thx for the story and solid info @Wildlife - that's what drew me to this forum.
Cheer up. It's a nice deer. No need for formal apologies. So you weren't familiar with scoring. Big deal. I don't think anyone is going to think less of you for it. Nobody is perfect and all knowing in every subject. Smile Denny! Nobody here is raining on your parade.
Every year someone down my old gun club will get a deer and they call me to score it. I’ve printed dozens of score sheets and left them down the club, gave a crash course on scoring…hoping that some will retain the information and they won’t have to call me every time a good buck comes in….but…they call me every year. I’m surprised no one has done this at one of the yearly gatherings. It’s not too difficult and once you’ve done a couple, you’ll know how to do it yourself.
