Public land thoughts/questions. Pressure? Timing?

Hello guys.
I hunt a private farm, always have, however as my family has grown and we eat more and more venison , I want to fill the freezer with more than my county bag limit will allow.

I would like to get into public land areas to try and accomplish this, and just a couple generic questions I’m hoping could get a little guidance on, since I’ve never experienced public lands actually hunting or during hunting season for that matter.

I’m assuming that pressure and crowds will be less during the work week as opposed to weekends, fair assessment?
Also, is the luck better in early bow season (October) before the hunting and rut activity really gets going?

I have no elaborate goals or misconceptions of big bucks (working on that on the farm) just looking to smack a mature doe for meat.

Thinking a couple spots in Alum Creek and/or Buck Creek parks primarily.

Any insight, be much appreciated! Thanks

This season will be a huge contrast to seasons past. Seeing the amount of people this year in state parks on a daily basis is probably 2-3× the normal. It doesn't seem to make much difference what day of the week it is. With the amount of people not working or working from home has a huge amount of people out and about. Trying to find a good spot is going to be a huge uphill battle for sure.

I will also say alum is heavily used right now. I don't know how much traffic is off trail but I can only imagine what it might be like closer to season

I haven't hunted public land in years... but ... I used to and want to hunt on "iffy days" and break up the pressure on my land by going off to hunt public. I've gravitated to Jeff's abilty to present what I've experienced seen as factual, common sense strategies to approach public land hunting.

Here's a blog - he has a number of public land videos in his youtube channel as well. I'm using them and scouring the internet for areas that require a 'permit' like AEP, to reduce the 'known by people' and ability to hunt them. Best of luck - OBTW - if you like hype, loud bumper music, pressure to buy something, Cool face grease marking etc -- Jeff's not for you. If you want knowlwdge of 'How To' presented in the forefront click his links below.

A couple blogs on it:

95% of the time I hunt public, opener is a bust . I have spots where my buddy n I are only 50 yds apart we've watched each other drop deer probably 10 times. I dont mind other hunters,I can get up earlier and sit longer. Best day....Michigan ohio state game, you'll be by your self.
