I smoked for six years and then quit. I know what you are going though. Each day does get a little easier over time. The hardest part for me was to get over the habit of smoking. Car rides, after meals, drinking, etc... If I can do it anyone can quit!

I was curious how Jeff is making out. Today makes a full week for me with not one single cigarette. No nicotine gum or any other aid, just pure stubbornness that I refused to smoke! I was over a pack a day, and now nothing!

What a huge accomplishment. Congratulations.

Cold Turkey is the only method that worked for me as well.

I owe a lot TOO this thread, Dale and RD. This all came about at the right time for me. I smoked 1 1/2 - 2 packs a day and was tired of feeling like a slave to smokes. I suddenly thought, If Dale and RD can do it so can I! Last Monday (January 28 @ 10:00 pm) I quit smoking and not as much as 1 puff since. Wore a nicotine patch for first 2 days and cold turkey after that. Won't let my guard down, but have a good feeling it's all over finally. The 72 hrs of ZERO nicotine is over and I feel better about it already! Dale, RD and Everyone who had encouraging words in this thread....."I Love You Guys!"

Rick, that is the best news I have heard all day!! I am happy for ya buddy! It's awesome how one person can do something to improve their quality of life and it just seems to snowball from there. I know with me it was the support from friends and family that kept me snuff free and now there is no way I would go back. Keep up the good work buddy, I know I'm proud of ya and I know there's many many more out there that are proud of ya TOO!

Wish I could say I am 100% smoke free but I am on the way. Have had a real tuff week moving to a new Rig and alot of problems with the Rigging up so I still am having a few but getting closer. The important thing is I am not giving up just a real stressful week. I will be home Tuesday for a week and hope to make up for it. Thanks for everyones support.

It's tuff bud. You know that. There's no failure unless ya give up and go back to your old ways and I know ya ain't gonna do that. If it was easy anybody could do it! Keep at it, you can do it!

I have still cut Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back but I was down to 3 a day but I just cracked due to the stressful week, I know it sounds like a excuse but when I got to the Rig, actually CJD and I are sharing this Rig now. He works one week and I come down to releive him and I work one week, kind of cool. Anyway so I am back on a 300 series Rig where I was for 3 years until mine got "stacked" ( Contract was not renewed ) so I went to this Rig that is Candian owned, most unfriendly bunch of SOB's! Fuggers would call me "Yankee". Getting way off the subject but so I went to my brothers Rig on a new location never Rigged up his trailer and it was just a nightmare because of the location of where they put us. Power cords not long enough, just one thing after another. If it was not for CJD helping me out over the phone I would probably have caved 100%. On top of that the whole site froze up, I had no water for two days, even a 2" Dia choke line on the Rig froze up!!!! No TV........computer problems, just a night mare. I said all of this so you can understand how I did kind of add a few "Heaters" to my daily take. Just had to walk away for 5 minutes. I know I am weak but I will make it.

Man this is great seeing you guys stick together like this. My neighbor, a good friend of mine, smoked since he was a teen and he is 54 now, anyway he quit last year and has been smoke free since! He used the money he saved to buy a Hoyt Carbon Matrix bow and I introduced him to archery. He took a buck this year his first year bowhunting! It all started from him quitting a bad and costly habit and using the money to start a new hobby.

The pain is absolutely worth the gain! I'm rootin for you all, Riverdude, Badger, Xbow
