Only 48
stage 3 colorectal cancer
Very unfortunate and this is the first I have heard of.

FYI the newest recommendations for colon cancer screening is now 45 years of age (irregardless of family history) and a majority of colon cancer is preventable with screening by removing the polyps that will turn into cancer during the colonoscopy. In addition it allows for earlier detection of cancer that can be treated with surgery before it spreads to the lymph nodes which then requires chemotherapy and also unfortunately has poorer survival rates. We are seeing too high rates of colon cancer in younger patients that we cannot explain (concerning for diet and possibly other additives in processed foods) and in my opinion screening needs to be at least 40 years of age.

This is probably more than anyone wants to hear about on TOO but everyone needs to get screened with a colonoscopy or even a cologuard (stool sample test). Take care of yourself and your family members as these things can sneak up on us before it’s too late.

It’s a conversation that everyone needs to have. Not enough talking about it and how it’s showing up earlier these days….. Well said, DS!

As you can guess I’ve had my fair share of them over the years. Never had any issues until this last one where they found some polyps. They were removed and came back clean. Thankfully.

I agree. It seems to be getting younger and younger people. From everything I'm reading theyre leaning heavy towards the preservatives in processed meats being a huge cause, primarily lunch meats, but also things like sausage and bacon.
