i recently purchased a ruger 450BM with a weaver 3x9 scope. I plan on purchasing a better scope after this season. I've read a lot of reviews and most people dont like them. Does anyone here use a weaver 3x9 on a 450BM? If so how was it for you? And what yardage did you zero? I'm probably going to zero mine at 100 yards.

I used to be a name brand freak, but I feel technology in materials, designs,, and manufacturing/assembly capabilities exceed the std. consumer level these days. Why do I say that?

I have 4 rifles shooting Bushnell's and other bottom of the barrel/OEM scope packages and they have served me fine.

Not saying there is any replacement for good glass, but go with works for you. Try it out then decide of you need/what to spend $300+.

Worst case scenario you replace it and put it on a .22LR or something else needing glass.

I've used my share of whatever the "package" scopes that were on rifles that I've purchased. However, I've also never regretted purchasing better glass for those rifles. I used to like Nikon scopes, but they're out of business, so I switched to Vortex and have no regrets. (y)

I have a Vortex Diamondback Tactical on my Savage 22-250, in a 6-24x50 that absolutely impresses me every time I use it.
Last year I purchased a Ruger American in 450 Bushmaster (bare rifle) and installed a Vortex 4-12x40 on it. It has impressed me with ease of use, affordability and low light vision for hunting.
Using my own reloads of a Hornady FTX 250 gr. bullet @ 2550 fps, I sight in dead on at 150 yards. This gives me 2.2" of drop at 200 yards and 10.5" of drop at 300 yards. 5 shots in 1 hole at 100 yards is something I've never accomplished with a large bore rifle....until this rifle/cartridge.
Last year, I shot my first long range buck at 130+ yards on Monday of the Deer Gun Season and a nice doe on Friday of that same week at 123 yards.

Love this rifle, this cartridge and Vortex scopes! (y)

I have a Weaver 3x9-40 duplex reticle mounted on a 50cal Knight muzzleloader zerod@100yrds. Worked perfectly for me during last muzzy season @65yrds. I feel no need to upgrade.

I have same power riflescopes, but different brands on a Marlin 30-30 and my Remington 12g 3" magnum where I shoot 3" magnum 1-3/8oz. bear slug cartridges out of it. Also zerod@100yrds, and that rifle with those rounds will put a hurtin on my shoulder if I shoot more than a box at a time.

I grew up with a Winchester Model 70 / Leopold VariX2. Carried that since I was 16 in NY, through the Adirondacks, in several hunting seasons. Still have that gun / scope combo. Can't afford it now (Modern Win Model 70 is easily $1600+, and Ohio doesn't like fine upstanding loads like the venerable 30 caliber / 7.62.

I recently purchased a Remington 783 chambered in .450BM, and put a Vortex Diamondback Tactical 6-24X50 scope on it. Seems to shoot well, out to 200 yards, as long as one uses the BDC reticle correctly, and lets the shot come as a surprise. It's heavier than the Mo 70 carbine, but I only carry it one week a year, and unlike my hunting in NY, which involves mostly drives, Ohio hunting involves mostly sits in a tree, and waiting.
