Safety Harness?

I am 5'5", 175#. Trying to decide if the large will work for me. My 22 year old daughter is 5'0" 93# and I'm upgrading her too...probably a youth version.

the problems i see with deer hunting harnesses are the leg straps are way too small and it would really help if there was a butt strap for comfort. without one you will cince them bad boys up around your nether regions. you also need to have the harness tight on you. if you give it room to move it till hurt worse. the experience of cinching down one in one will give you a perspective you will remember.. how throw your body falling 6 feet and that momentum pulling up into your crotch. yeah not fun...

I use the Tree Spider. I like it. It is quick and easy to get on. It has 2 vest pockets that work well for phone and small stuff. The leg straps do interfere with my front pant pockets but not my cargo pockets. The suspension relief strap is my only complaint. It was an easy fix though. Refold it and a rubber band keeps it tucked away.

To Joe's point. First thing I did was tested it out in the tree. Stepped off the stand to make sure it felt right if I ever needed it. Made sure I did it on the stick side so I could climb back up. I was impressed with the way it felt. The padded leg straps made a nice difference than my old harness.

Does anyone know anything about the Muddy Crossover or Diamondback? I may try the crossover just because of the pockets and bino holders. I've always had neck issues and after this event I'm sure those issues are going to be magnified.

I just picked up the Tree Spider this summer. I didn't like the linesman belt so for $35 I upgraded to a falltech belt. It's bigger and a little bit bulkier but I don't have to worry about if it will hold me since it's rated for like 3500 lbs. Add in some of the other products like the spider lifeline that attaches to the tree that your tether will attach to that brings you slowly to the ground and your good to go.
Like milo said, I would love it if they had a strap that went across your backside for sitting. That would make it a lot more comfortable if you fell. In as little as 10 minutes hanging from these harnesses you can do some serious damage to your legs. Cutting off the blood supply is a bad thing and can cost you your legs if left hanging to long.

if you guys have an old harness, i suggest to strap one on and suspend yourself from one. its one thing to break teh fall, but the harness can and will hurt you. it will beat the alternative obviously but your nuts will thank you later. MAKE SURE YOU KNOW HOW TO USE YOUR SUSPENSION RELIEF STRAP!!!
After my incident last year in my climber I now have my suspension relief strap attached to my harness. I always carried it with me and figured I could attach it if I ever needed it. I now think it's not as easy to do something like that in an emergency. It's one thing to do it on the ground in a relaxed atmosphere. It's another to do it in the dark hanging 20 feet off the ground. I just stuff it in my front pocket so it doesn't drag behind me.

I have a tree spider vest. It's ok.... But gets bulky when I put a jacket on over top. Actually just pulled a cheapy harness out of a pack and started using it. I'm gonna look into those Muddy's. The vest thing just doesn't work for me....

I just ordered a HSS lifeline off the TOO amazon link. I plan on putting it on my millennium that's 25' up in the tree. I'll get a few more before next year so all my stands are equipped with lifelines.

They sell 3 packs for $100. They occasionally put them on sale for $80. Pretty good deal for 3.
