Saturday - Day 6

5 does this morning. Saw a BIG coyote in the bottom of a strip pit lake area. He was about 40 yards down, 75 out, I moved a little to get a better shot angle. He looks up at me from behind a tree and takes off! Tried a running shot at 100 yards but missed.. Boy did he take off after that! Had 4 deer 40 yards away around 4, but it was too thick to see them..

Well, I lied. I wasn't planning on budging no matter how slow it was. After I shot that coyote I had to move. She was a stinky girl and I could smell her from the tree stand blowing right at me. No way in the world a deer was going to come in close after that. I drug her all the way to the edge of the property and then snuck back into the closest stand for the last two hours. Hated to leave that spot but I had to slide down into the edges of what we call our "sanctuary" to retrieve her. I figured the deer would be a little buggered up after that and might pop out on the other end so I just set up down on that end. Could have taken a 100-120yd shot on a yearling doe and button buck or 50-60yd shot on a small buck but I passed.

Pictures posted in Bowhunter57's thread about shooting coyotes with a slug barrel, but I will post them here too. What the heck. Everyone loves seeing dead coyotes!

I didn't think I was gonna get out to gun hunt but my mom offered to watch the kid for me so I could do a eve hunt . I ended up shooting a small doe about 430. Used up my last 15$ tag.
