Geeze be careful holding the bottom of it like that, that looks like a good way to burn through his fleece or scorch his hand!

Cool pic though

He's gotta learn some how!

This is so true... even with adults. I vaguely remember Joe posting on here somewhere, about being careful smoking around your face and hair, as the smoker has a tendency to "backfire" when it really gets going hot. Yea well, even though I read that, like a dumbass I still managed to scorch one of my sideburns with a firey puff...

Don't feel bad... I still do it once or twice a year... It could be worse, you didn't pull what a buddy once did and set his ghillie suit on fire. lmao

Thankfully my ghillie suit is made of a fire retardant material. I did burn up a fleece hat and a fleece glove.

I have to be honest. Used a smoker for the first time this weekend and became a fan Saturday night. Had a doe feed for an hour in/around me (within 20 yards) and a few times you can tell she caught the smoke. She sniffed the air and never became alert. Passed it off and continued about her business. This included crossing within feet of my tree a couple times.

Now, as for lessons learned, a wise man informed me to take a concrete paver or brick with me to sit it on...turns out leaving it on a bed liner aint a good idea. At least that's what I hear.

Ryan... Lmfao! Don't touch the fugger with your sleeve either. I melted a fleece one time trying to move the smoker.

My son and I had a mature doe with two fawns downwind Saturday evening. She sniffed the air a few tines at 20 yards and walked right out in front of us. We got busted trying to get the bow in position. But she was never alert before that. Same thing as you Ryan... She smelled the smoke but never became alert.

I've also seen people leave them on the ground next to their tire (on dirt) or hang them from their ball hitch

if you guys give your smoker a quick little shake in between bellows it will keep the chips from igniting. don't bellow TOO fast...

Yep...

We put it to the test last night while hunting the blind down in Paradise. Had a big ol' doe dead down wind and she never batted an eye. As I tell more and more people about it, it amazes me how open people are becoming to it now considering how bad it was early on. I have a couple buddies here at work doing it now and I talked to the son of a landowner yesterday who is now smoking his clothes after hearing me talk about it during a meeting with his dad last week...
