Shingles

Something to ask your doctor, Dave...

I don't mean to shit all over your plans, but I'm concerned that the vaccine won't do any good. It's more concerning that your immune system isn't able to reliably contain the shingles outbreaks even though each outbreak should be raising your defenses to the virus.

The purpose of the vaccine is to raise an immune response against the virus so if it reactivates you can clear it much faster.

If you are constantly having shingles outbreaks, your immune system is already aware of the virus and mounting a defense to them already. It's just not able to shut down the reactivation fast enough.

Did you read it fully? It's also 25 years old

Levels of missed opportunities to immunize were high in all groups and did not change over time......
CONCLUSIONS: Bonuses sharply and rapidly increased immunization cover-age in medical records. However, much of the increase was the result of better documentation. A bonus is a powerful incentive, but more structure or education may be necessary to achieve the desired results.
Emphasis mine

So Bonuses lead to better documentation on children receiving on time (age related) immunizations that covered all the nasty bugs we've all but eliminated in the 20th century in the developed world.

Not sure how you're making an argument for anything here.

I believe it is more of a word/name issue. Like hearing "militia" people get standoffish. When in reality, it is an organization that answers to the governor. It has just picked up a bad name over the years of radicals. Much like the word vaccine/vaccination.

He loves it. You’d think, once you’ve had it you’d get the vaccination. This the second go round? Get well soon little buddy.

Ok at my annual physical yesterday, got the first shingles shot yesterday, Doctor said you haven't had a tetanus booster in 12 years, you wanna go ahead and to that also.

Stupid me say sure why not, now after 24 hours both arms are killing me and I am running a fever.

Ugh glad it is the weekend.

On a positive note, blood pressure was normal.

Yeah, I spent over 3 decades as a pin cushion. Now when/if I take a vaccine it’s on my terms and one at a time….
The shingles vaccine has a little kick too it and I’d never recommend multiple with that one.

But for what it’s worth, never, and I mean never get a typhoid and cholera shot together! 🤬

Fuck vaccines... Never got a vaccine other than shots in the service... However got the COVID shots and now I have asthma... Definitely from that shot was fine before... Plus taste and smell aren't what they used to be...

I would normally agree but not with shingles, my wife's doctor know 2 people in the medical field personally that got shingles, in one case it attacked the nerves in their arm and they had to retire from being an ER nurse, the other it attacked their ear and they have severe vertigo for 9 months

And don’t let it get on your face, that’ll wreak a whole new level of pain….
Also have a buddy who’s dealing with the nerve damage from his bout of shingles. Got it at the the same he was recovering from shoulder replacement surgery…. It’s been 5 months and still has the pain.
