Anyone got the vaccine? I know a jab is a touchy subject but I got shingles a few months back and now every time I get stressed out it comes back. Stuff ain't no fun. Private doctors told me I had to wait until I was 50 but the VA said I just couldn't actively have it. I'm am seriously thinking about getting it. I just don't know enough about it. Anyone have some history with it or have history with a reoccurring issue like I am? What helps? Some pretty major shit has happened to me and I can't help the stress. The added physical pain sure doesn't help. I promise, lol.

Do it. My old man had shingles and was miserable for weeks. He got the vaccine and hasn't had a problem since.

I got the vaccine and the booster as soon as I was able. Never had shingles, but have no desire to. I had no reaction to the shots other than localized soreness and some tiredness. 10/10 would do it again.

The thing that bothers me most is why they want you to wait until 50 to get it. Does it have a lifespan? If it works and you have a patient fighting the problem, why keep him from the solution?

This is the only reason I could find. So...its to cover their ass from a regulatory perspective.

The Shingrix shingles vaccine is not approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in people under 50 years of age. However, adults 19 years and older with weakened immune systems may also get two doses of shingles vaccine, due to a higher risk of getting shingles and related complications.

The vaccine has only been tested in adults 50 years and older and The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), a committee that is part of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), does not recommend zoster vaccination for people younger than age 50 years regardless of their history of shingles.

Yes. However...it seems odd they will approve it for people with weakened immune systems who are more apt to get shingles......but apparently won't give it to you, who does not have a weakened immune system, but DOES have shingles.

I got it (shingles vaccine) and the wife did as well. It’s something that I don’t want to deal with. Mild side effects for me, a little more for the wife but she got a tetanus shot at the same time so that may have come in play also.
The wife’s been in the medical field for 40 years. She wouldn’t get the Covid shot but would get the shingles shot. I follow her lead as she knows more of this than I.

COVID was an experimental shot. Shingles vaccine is an actual vaccine. I got shingles a few years ago. Face, mouth, gums, tongue, inside my mouth was horrible. I've considered getting the vaccine but haven't had them since. If I ever get them again I'm sure I'll get the vaccine.

Try lysene. A coworker to my wife gets them often. She recommended that when I got them. It is an over the counter supplement. I believe you take these early when you feel it coming on.

I had shingles once but it never came back. My wife had it and she opted for the vaccine. She had two doses….the initial and a booster about 3 months later. She hasn’t had shingles since and has had no side affects. I’m Leary of vaccinations so won’t get one for myself unless I get shingles again. My wife said it’s a lifetime vaccine.

My doctor is young, I'm thinking it is an educational thing. I believe with my restrictive lung disease and diabetes I also fall into the weak immune system. Covid fucked me up.

On my knees, gun to my head, is the only way I'm getting jabbed with anything. I'm convinced the ailment is better than what could be lurking inside any vaccine they want to give me. With them pushing all the rona and now bird flu vaccines, who is to say it isn't in what they give you? They know best now and will dictate who gets what. They snuck it in people without their consent.

Unfortunately, the doctors can't be trusted since their pay and livelihood is based on the % of their patients that are "vaccinated".

There‘s a fine line between ridiculous paranoia and sensible caution. You may have erased that line…. I agree with your take on the whole Covid fiasco. But to spread that thought process across the board is a dangerous stance to your health. But it’s a (somewhat) free country, so you do you….

Technically you don't because neither of those issues (or your proclivity for spending time in coyote dens) has anything to directly impact your immune system.

I do think an argument could be made regarding your willingness to assume the risks considering the multiple reoccurrence of shingles to prevent it.

I plan on getting it when I'm able.
