OK guys you have convinced me I'm going to go out this week and freeze my butt off for some more squirrels.

I'm like you Brock, I never really cared for the taste of squirrel and they always seemed to be on the tough side. After reading all the different ways to fix em, I think I'll have to give em another try. Some good idea's here, thanks everyone!

Mason is out of school tomorrow. We plan to try collecting a few more for the pot in the morning. I just hope "good squirrel" isn't something I will only be able to fix one time in my life.

Just the one on his trigger hand. He's got it down to an art...bites the index finger, pulls his hand out, drops the glove from his mouth as he shoulders the gun. It doesn't take long to learn the fine points of cold weather hunting.

Brock, when you get serious about killing rats, you need to get one of these.
if you're cooking squirrels, braising is the only way to go. pressure canning them is very nice, too. canned squirrel makes the finest squirrel gravey you'll ever eat.
Thats a fine looking cur you have there. Reminds me of the two I have owned.
yes, a Mt. Cur. my first one. he's gonna be just a year old in few weeks. showing great promise. gets gone, stays put pretty good when he's treed. has a good mouth and hunts relentlessly. still a pup, but so far, so good. already looking forward to next season. we put up 30 squirrels in 6 weeks, and he was only 8 months old when we started hitting it hard in December. big fun, hunting squirrels with a dog.
Squirrelly where you at? I'd really like too try a hunt with a treeing squirrel dog.... My goal is too get a cur when I retire and try this...

I've had him out several times since season ended. is purely excersize and experience for dog (and handler :smile. we both learn something every time we hit the woods. dropping rats on dogs head is far less important to the dog than most people think. in competition hunts no squirrels are harmed, but dogs keep on treeing anyway. if you got a squirrel woods, we can turn dog out anytime.

Have too keep that in mind... There's going too be a couple of outings with TOO members and I'm sure there'll be squirrels there as well lol along with beer lol...

Great looking dog! I bet when he is showing pics of his owner, he doesn't get the same responses! I plan to hold you to the squirrel hunt this fall...and am looking forward to it!
