Creek jamming wood piles have been calling.

That's just a few, there's more further on down stream.

I'm waiting on the creek to dry up some more, which usually happens by the end of September and it gets bone dry.

Some cooler weather 'TOO'!

Plus, I have another big old dying ash, two massive walnuts and a 50+ year old dead blue spruce in the yard that need to come down.

Saws & chains are ready, but I'm surely NOT.

Anybody who wishes to get in better shape for the new season, you're more than welcome to join me. I've got plenty of wood work for the liking...

Here is the result of some of my dumb-assery yesterday. Still runs fine, but the front end bar studs are not in line anymore.... Sort of pulled out a bit. Anyone know if it is easily fixable? I haven’t done any more disassembly yet.

On our Stihl saw those studs can be screwed back into the housing

Not knowing the situation my mind goes to, are you sure you should be operating a saw? Not being an ass, but that has the looks of a near death situation.

Not as near death as it looks. I got it pinched in a horizontal log that was about 3 feet off the ground. And instead of just going and getting the tractor/loader to get the pressure off, I started tugging on it with my quad and snatch strap. Well, it collapsed and landed on the pinched saw. But I still don’t know if I should be operating it!!!

Sure does! Remembering physics class on levers becomes indispensable lol. Glad u were you ok on that one.

I'm in dire need of dragging out some trees this fall. Took a season off last year and went thru 2.5-3 cords just in campfire wood since then lol.

Phil that pile makes me tired looking at it, well done!

That is a beauty J! Honestly hope they are able to use it for more than just firewood.

Glad I brought this thread back up. Always entertaining to see what guys are up to. Sawmills. 200 year old trees. Mangled saws. New saws. Resurrected saws/log splitters maybe? Who knows what we'll find.

I have a still 018 that doesn’t run right....smokes a lot. I took it to the local still dealer and he said it would cost almost as much as a new saw to fix it...so I got a new one. If you want it for parts, you can have it. I’m going to meet up with Giles when I come out in the beginning of November to give him some muzzleloader bullets/sabots. I can give it to him and use the hillbilly express to get it to you.

Dads woodpile for his cabin build has been growing. He wants every piece of lumber in it to run across his sawmill.

He even made a huge log arch on the trailer to go get local logs to mill. Let’s just say he is enjoying retirement!

Way back when I built a cradle for a chain saw mill to flatten 2 sides of my logs to build the cabin I live in

Walked in the shop this morning and it was a bit chilly.

So, I cleaned the chimney and the stove stack along with doing some minor roof maintenance right after lunch.

Then Stihl & I spent some quality time down at the creek working on the first pile of the season.

We put a good size dent in it. There are four others after this one that I'll be clearing over the next few weeks.

Tomorrow morning, I'll be feeding the stove for the first time since last February, which will be nice.

The hoof marks right beside the area I was doing the wood work reminded to get my shit together and put everything away so I can get out this evening with the bow.

Now I'm gonna go get cleaned up to head out.
