I couldn't get out of the door of the new house without running off turkeys...they all left in late April. But we still have deer all over us, at least until September. Got a few off to decent starts. I've never put much stock in early growth, it's just that - early growth. Some start earlier than others and finish sooner.

Do you think all those bobcats played a roll in your turkey season?
I’m sure they don’t help but I found out a neighbor feeds turkeys in his yard year round. He has 12-15 Toms visit daily. The last week of season I heard what I called 10-15 gobbling together on his place. It was like mid-March activity. I think that has more to do with it than anything.

I used to have turkeys in my back yard daily, but that stopped a few years ago....found out that a guy that lives in the developement about a quarter mile behind my property also feeds them year round. Something like that really changes their patterns, that’s for sure.

I think predators really stop the gobbling. Which sounds like the only reason many of you hunt them. This is why they hammer away on the roost and then go cold.

I’ll stop sidetracking now. Your bobcat pics always make my mind go sideways. Worse than a coyote pic to me.
