Native to SE Asia… Hitched a ride to the states and there ya have it….
Last year in a few counties South of me I know people that were sweeping them off their decks... I had none... This year I've got a few...

Beautiful bug, but what a nightmare for certain Ag. people. Can wipe out grapes for example. I was in Hershey for some meetings and we played the Hershey country club while staying at the Hershey Hotel. (Side note: EVERYTHING is Chocolate including the soap!) Anyways, I must have smashed a thousand of them and never put a dent in the population... I hope they NEVER hit western Pa. Ran the car through the car wash before we left Hershey and then again when we hit Erie.

Tree of heaven (also an invasive) is their preferred food and they are everywhere. When driving up to north central Pennsylvania there is a stretch on rt 15 that has those trees for a couple of miles in the center median. I’ve cut down all of those trees on my property but it’s a lost cause because both neighbors have those trees. When I had them, they were loaded with the spotted lantern flys….I’m talking hundreds. They are here to stay.

Just another invasive species Asia has sent over here. I find it odd how Asia/China seems to have all these invasive plants and fish and continues to infect other countries with them over time. Wonder if these were all engineered like the Covid virus….🤔

I'm guessing they don't do as well in my cold snowy climate. The huge grape vineyards here along lake Erie could use the avoidance if at all possible. trouble is I 90 runs right along them.
