It isn't a "high" quality gun, quite the opposite really. Its a Crossman 2100, one of the cheaper guns he has, but that thing will drive nails.

Mason is out of school this week for the Highland Co fair. So we went over to the neighbor's this morning and killed four grays before 8. We saw three big fat turkeys too. It felt like fall this morning!

Fresh meat. Turned out pretty good. Taste like chicken.

Good stuff Brock! Makes me want to get out and shoot a few. You guys find any warbles?

No warbles, thankfully. I don't think I have ever killed a squirrel that had one and would prefer not to. This morning was just about a perfect morning for hunting squirrels. Cool, calm, and right in the middle of a hickory patch...

Mike, how did you prepare your squirrel? I fried these things about as slow as I thought was possible and still keep the oil popping a little. They were in the skillet almost an hour, but turned out tender as I've ever had.

I parboiled mine and then quartered it, dipped it in flour and cracker mixture and then pan fried until brown.

You da man, Mike! That's pretty much how I do it, although I use flour. Did you make any squirrel gravy? Now that's even better! Great to hear and see your table fare. You guys made me hungry.

I love the skillet pic, Brock!

I got that idea from you. How do you make the gravy?

It's really simple. Do your squirrel just the way you did it, but after removing it from the skillet. Take some flour and stir it in your drippings ( grease and squirrel meat in the pan) start with a half cup or so. Slowly add milk, with your heat on medium high. Mash and stir out any lumps. Add salt and heavy on the pepper.lol. To you taste. You can make as much gravy as you want by adding more flour and milk.

I also, pick the meat off of the front legs and rib cages after par boiling to add in my gravy. Try some sweet potatoes( candied) with gravy on top! It's to die for!

Sweet! Congratulations to Andrew!

I'm going to join my FIL in the morning for another squirrel hunt. Looking forward to it as he hasn't been able to get out for the last few years due to health issues. Mason is pretty excited to hunt with his Grandpa for the first time. Something every kid should get to do.

My FIL, Mason and I made it out as planned this morning. It was kinda a big deal to us. My FIL had a leg amputated a year and a half ago and hasn't been able to hunt since. This was the first time to the woods for him since, and the first time Mason has ever been able to go to the woods with his Grandpa. We had a good time. We saw deer, turkey, quail, and a few squirrels. We shot five grays. Mason went home with Grandpa and they will be going to the county fair this afternoon, and squirrel hunting again in the morning. It's the start of a good weekend for them!
