Still in velvet

Got this ugly critter still in velvet. Had a longed beam on the right side but he broke it off this week. Be cool to see what he makes.

If he or her is still in velvet then I am guessing that it will never make much. Sounds like it had a testosterone issue.

This is a southern deer. He may be growing already. My buddy who raises deer already has bucks with a couple inch nubbins

It either a doe or a buck with no nuts. Been like that since before deer season.

I had one last year that was pushing 140” in velvet in March. Definitely a buck with testosterone issues. Yours looks like a buck to me with probably the same issues. Mine just passed through once never to be seen again.

I’d say he’s just further along than most in the growing process and prolly dropped his sheds very early as well.

Im thinking a buck but he definitely has issues. He has been in velvet since spring of last year. Couldnt tell you past that point

Will be interesting to see if those antlers continue to grow in years to come. Do a search on cactus buck, kinda follows the ideas others have mentioned about goofed up testosterone levels.
