Just had to vent here today. Didn't really want to check the cameras so early, but i was working on the property I am hunting this year. Had one of the four wheelers there to pull a small trailer around and slipped into my rubber boots for a quick ride to change camera cards after lunch. One of my Bushnell Trophy cams is GONE! Little pukes. I had just moved it after running off a trespasser last week. Well, I ran them off with a phone call to dispatch. Moved it to a different location and guess it was a bad location to move it to. That is okay though, this kid is going to slip up and the property owners have already said they are ready to prosecute the trespassers. I have sort of been deputized~! Time will tell. Thanks for listening. . . or not.

Well, I do have pictures of him! Let me backup. I have pictures of a repeated trespasser and he was nabbed by the po po and questioned. A week later one camera is missing? Strong likelyhood this is my thief.

I have him in the woods at 5am with one of his buddies on foot. I have him all around the field edges on camera on the ATV with his girl. Just a little punk that I think took the camera to avoid getting busted for trespassing again.

Here is what you do lol. Take the digger back there once the leaves start to fall. Dig a trinch long enough and wide enough to catch his frontend of the atv. Cover with twigs and leaves and put a cam up in a tree out of reach..make sure it is on video mode and wait for the little SOB to ride past .

Hicks, if you remember right, there are now even stiffer ATV tresspassing laws. take the pics to the cops and press charges. they need less and less evidence with the new law. sounds like you need to set a trap with an invisible IR camera and a decoy camera.

In the end it is a couple hundred bucks out the door. I am fortunate to be able to afford such luxeries in this economy. However, a thief is a thief and I don't have much sympathy for them. I do not have any desire to get the kid injured, because I am still paying off the lawyer from the last work he did for me. Gonna be mowing his lawn forever at this rate. ha

Thought has crossed my mind, Milo. Dummy cam or the Moultrie D-40 I haven't put out in about a year as a donor cam? Then hang one of the IR cams high? Still not 100% positive it is him, but a high likelyhood. If it is someone else, they too will probably be back. Bust whomever it is.

Yep pretty much moved on from that chapter. It is amazing the balls that some people have though. I can't say how I would react if I did find my stuff or found out who did it.

It's a sick ass feeling to walk up on a tree expecting to see and camera, and see nothing. Still lights a fire in me when I think about it and I'm lucky it has only happened once and it was a Cuddefugg. Nothing pisses me off worse than some punk POS kid stealing from hard working folks...

Put, at an angle that you can a junk camera up in the same spot as the one stolen.
Hide another good camera where it is watching the first so you can get a pic of his face.

Post his picture all over the internet, with a caption.

How about one of these to mount the camera high and some LW sticks to climb in/out of the tree? Might be a pain, but is substantially cheaper than the box/python cable lock. I have bought 7 cameras in the last 2 years. Two were Christmas bonuses for employees last year. One was a thank you gesture to the guy that set me up on the buck I have on my wall. I still have 2 orf the Trophy Cams, and honestly haven't run my Moultrie D-40 since the second Trophy Cam purchase. Ate batteries two quickly for my liking. I really haven't had a ton of problems running them the last year and a half. Were it not for the trespassing incident, I think I would still have all three of the Bushnellls. I really don't think many would go to the efforts to climb a tree to steal it. That is, if they even saw it. Thoughts?

Oops. Image didn't post. It is basically a screw in tree step with a threaded end you can screw the camera onto the female threaded mount in the bottom of the camera.
