STURGIS 2020w

Is that because of Covid or some other policy ? What about Daytona Bike week & the likes ?

Don't quote me on exact dates, but I believe Daytona is the second week in March. It already took place. Not as busy as past years.

Joe nailed it. Vendors are there because bikers are there. Bikers don't go to see the vendors.

I'm not going. Never been my thing to ride to big rallies to drink. Drinking and driving isn't my thing. Being around a bunch of drinking and driving isn't my thing. NOT saying this is what all attendees do at Sturgis, but there are plenty that do. Heck, I don't even like to ride in groups. I prefer to lone wolf it. Just go do my own thing.

I’m planning on doing that sometime in future rode with the group. Hopefully within a year or two

Sure - but they need grub and beer venders - local business depends on the bikers for a major part of their yearly revenue - i depend on the bikers to bring hot babes

Oh for sure and I'm sure there will be plenty. The one's that come will just bring more, or new ones will decide to capitalize on the fewer vendors. If there's a dollar to be made there will be people making it.

Sturgis city officials are worried that too many portable bathrooms lumped together could impede access for emergency vehicles.

Of all the planning that goes into hosting the annual Sturgis motorcycle rally, one unheralded yet ultra-critical component is where to place porta-potties downtown.
In all, there are about 150 potty stations, and deciding where they go may seem a slightly undignified task for an elected body like the Sturgis City Council. Yet their actions regarding the portable toilets have great consequences for many.
During a recent council discussion on the matter, some businesses jockeyed to have the potties positioned elsewhere, especially if they hoped to lure food vendors to their property. Meanwhile, city officials worried that too many lumped together may impede access of emergency vehicles. And then there are the beer-drinking rallygoers who will be using the potties and surely demand they be close by and convenient to their activities.

Balancing all those concerns in a fair, equitable way is the job of Sturgis Public Works Director Rick Bush.
"There's a little more thought that goes into it than randomly placing it," Bush told Sturgis City Council members last week.

Although local businesses definitely benefit from having hundreds of thousands of rallygoers in town, they don't always want portable toilets abutting their property.
"Nobody ever wants them, but everybody needs them," Bush said.
