Called a Tom 200 yards across a field this morning but he skirted me to my right. Had decoys to my left and he was angling towards me coming across so I thought he was going to cut right in front of me. Didn't rush a shot because of that and got beat as a result.

Dang that sucks Ryan, but it sounds like he is killable. Did you use any dekes by chance?

I had a Jake and a feeding hen off my left. He saw them when he hit the field edge from the woodlot and was angling to them (diagonal from my right to left) but he never committed in front of me and skirted me off my right side.

Definitely a killable bird!

Well, I failed in Michigan again. It's hard going in blind with no scouting. The birds are there, but they don't stick to predicable patterns and they refused my calls. My best opportunity was at a roosted jake and he decided to leave the roost by flying 100 yards away and he kept on trucking. I have that all on film.

Got chopped by another hunter today. Guy got in late and I have no doubt he bumped the Tom that was roosted in the same spot he has been each morning. Tom gobbled from the roost then pitched away from the field. The other hunter cut down the field and into the woodlot where the bird was right at legal shooting light. Maybe tomorrow....

Went out last evening. Same old same old. Had a tom and five hens 600 yards away on another farm where I always see them and don;t have permission. This is getting frustrating.

I put all of my decoys out. Nothing else works for me so what the hell.
