Team #9 " DeaD BuCkS "

dosent look good for opening day for me. I might be able to get out in the morning just as an observational mission. but my wife has decided we are going to hocking hills for her birthday that day. so killing something and having to get it dealt with will have to wait till sunday.
 
Debating on my opening morning sit for saturday. Ive got a new stand that I could have a good chance whacking a doe at but that depends on the temprature come this weekend

Looks like 50's in the morning, warming up to mid 60's by the afternoon.

If I get out it'll be for an afternoon sit. I'm hoping I can go climb a tree.
 
Good luck to all who will be out this weekend. I's looking more and more like a no-go for me. I'll probably make it out early next week for an evening sit or two.

by all rights I should be climbing into my stand right sbout now. stupid family stuff!! lol. just stepped outside to dump some coffee grounds, feels pretty good out there. I think someones gonna kill something today.

good luck to anybody that is out there. I'll be there tomorrow.
 
just a quick check in.
Nothing died today but I did have a couple small bucks come into about 10 yards of my stand this morning.
I took a lunch break around noon and decided to walk out by way of an edge of a cornfield. the edge is absulutely tore up with tracks. I think I will set a ground blind tomorrow after work so I can try to hunt it before the corn comes off.

went out this evening but had to cut my hunt a little short due to family issues.

If I can get that blind moved tomorrow or tuesday I might just go ahead and sit in it till dark and see what happens. otherwise it'll be next weekend for me.
 
Well fellas I put us on the board with my first bowkill on opening day. We started off the day with a morning hunt produced one sighting of a doe 80yards off. I told jesse about where she was and where she was headed and we both agreed that she was probably headed to bed in a draw and would come out in the evening. And the only way out would be past the same stand I sat in that morning. About 615 that evening a doe came out of that draw about 20yds from my stand but did not offer a shot. She squirted across the main path into a small ravine where I had hoped she would come back down another main path to my shooting lane. After 25 mins of browsing and what seemed like a cat and mouse game she stepped into my lane 30yds broadside. With my heart racing in my throat I took a few deep breaths to calm myself, drew back and let the arrow fly. It seemed like the arrow flew in slow motion and hit 10ring. She ran 50yds and crashed on the hillside tumbling down to the creek. The arrow clipped the top of both lungs and right through the middle of the heart. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life.
