Nothing moved today. Hopefully catch a new flight next weekend
Wow that’s amazing! This cold weather I can pick them up by hand. The other day I had to turn around as I forgot something at the camp. I was going slow and counting the woodcock on the edge of the road just outside the ditch. It was an ag field w natural cut grass to the road, overcast evening
We fixing to walk in to a slough 3/4 back. If I see one I will grab it unless Pearl grabs it first.I want to see a live one in your hand today.
I have seen and have picked up rooster pheasants in Iowa and Kansas when it’s been bitterly coldI want to see a live one in your hand today.
Damnit! Ruined my joke!!!Went to town and coming back peoples ponds had wild ducks in them. We drove next to an old oxbow river and had wild birds in it. Stopped at a buddy’s camp that has an acre pond to blast his but none were present . Going back before the camp I told Hb about the woodcock I seen and we start looking. Yup one here, one there. I was tempted to get out and catch one cause Dave want to see a cock in my hand w a pulse.
Plenty of snipe around here.View attachment 190870View attachment 190871Didn’t move any woodcock but had an opportunistic snipe hunt. Pretty neat little bird
I thought it was the resident killdeer that have been in that field all season. Noticed they weren’t flushing and making the killdeer racket. Then I saw the beak and it was game on.Plenty of snipe around here.
