I'm out at the MoonvilleTunnel out near Lake Hope State Park. Been wanting to visit all year. The engineering that it took is amazing. Built during the Civil War & refitted in 1903. The entire inside and length is lined in brick. Not a drop of water leaks down. The locks are kinda odd .....
The Hope Furnace's are incredible. Another engineering marvel. They were in service for only 20 yrs. Hard to wrap your head around that for all the work involved ....That thing is big. Standing up next to it gives you the feeling of standing next to the Great Pyramids.....
Nature never stops amazing me with its “can do” attitude. Once again, a little pine tree is growing from a single seed that dropped into a crack in this old pine tree stump cut down many years ago in my yard.
I forgot to post this. A few weeks ago, I was back down in Jackson for the weekend & my niece's husband took me over to nearby Buckeye Furnace. It's a little state park that has a refurbished furnace & it was very impressive to see how these actually existed.....
