Ours is a 1947 model. While it sucks in situations like Ryan's, it is nice looking a the rough cut oak framing above my head when I am in the basement. Built them like tanks back then.

Yup. NO repair project is isolated to the breakage... Try to replace the trap on a old plumbing job like a bathroom sink usually means replacing 1/2 the plumbing into the wall. Now we know why half the people in Lowes are rude... Its their 2ed or 3ed trip back for another part beyond the breakage. Just sayen.

Yep, my last one resulted in removing half the wall to gain access to a plugged drain pipe.
One entire bathroom renovation later......drain problem fixed......and down $2k for new sink, vanity, drywall, kickboards, paint, curtains, blinds, etc.

I learned this s little while ago but thought I would post it anyway.
Nobody is expecting anything to go wrong with their dominant hand or arm BUT you might just want to try learning how to do some of your daily living skills with the other hand or arm. The simplest things such as brushing your hair or your teeth or even getting dressed with only the use of that one arm. You can also practice now for #2's and save yourself some issues down the road. You guys ever have something happen and can't use that dominant hand or arm you can thank me for giving you a heads up and getting youto start thinking and practicing now lol.

Almost forgot. Feeding yourself with a fork or spoon. You won't like stabbing yourself in the gum with the fork or bouncing that spoon off that front tooth lol.

I think that's why computer inventors made the mouse operate with the right hand. Let's you practice with the left while surfing porn. I am now ambidextrous

Our's is an 1861 model. Takes home repairs to a completely different level. Spent 5-6 hours trying to fish a new electic line to a bedroom. If it was drywall I'd just knock hole in it but it's lath and plaster.

Btw I went to Home Depot last year, asked the kid in the lumber dept if they sold lath (needed it to stick some lumber I'd had sawn) he said "what's lath?"

Mine is 1898. 5 deaths in it, including a suicide. My kitchen used to be a porch and it really isn't insulated. So all my water lines go along the sw corner and tend to freeze up if I don't drip it. This summer will see me paying for someone to come insulate it and re do the plumbing while they are under there. I would do it but Im to big to crawl around in there. Then the wife wants us to remodel the kitchen. By us, she means me and whatever friends I can bribe with enough beer to help, as she will be major Prego by then

I learned that if it's cold enough and you bring your rifle (AR15) indoors after hunting for an hour or so not only will it have water condense on it but it will frost completely over for a few minutes. [emoji54]

If you want a part from NAPA look online. I called too see if they had a front hub/bearing assembly in stock and was quoted $249 to order one. I asked about the one they had online for $89.99. He hopped on the internet and looked at it. I thought $249 was really steep for a NAPA hub as the Timken one on rock auto was only $121. He looked and looked. The only difference between the two was one was assembled in KY and the other in China. Same. Damn. Hub. And. Bearing.
