I have a couple of farmers around here that sell us giant brown eggs for $1.00 a dozen. My milk and Bread usually comes from the walmart that my wife stops at in Ottawa. If I can, I buy a lot of the boxed stuff at Dollar General except for some stuff that cant be generic, like Mac and Cheese. I'm lucky enough to have friends that get great deals on some meat. Im currently getting 2 finished Hogs in mid March for $130-140 apiece. Those are for my sister and Nephew as I just butchered one for myself in November. but those will not see a butcher shop either. We know what we're getting and a lot more of it. What beef I do buy I happen to buy on sale. Sunday morning I had to go to the local grocery store, a Community Market, to get a few things for a Birthday party. The butcher was setting out sirloin steaks in packs of 4 and 8 for $5.00 and $10.00. I ended getting 28 steaks for $35 bucks. Most of them were around 8oz with a few about 6oz. I also picked up 8 lbs of 85/15 ground beef for $2.29lb on clearance. I fugged up by not buying the 3 whole pork loins they had for $1.99lb. I didn't because all the pork I have, but at that price I was pissed on the way home that I didn't get them. I took everything home and individually vacuum sealed the steaks and did the burger in 1lb packs. Anywhere I see chicken leg and thigh quarters on sale I pick up. Usually the first week day after a holiday weekend when they overstock and overprice all the meats is when they drastically mark everything down. The looks on peoples faces when Im stacking that stuff in my cart is priceless. But we have a shitload of parties in the summer and I always cook a crapload of food for everyone, so spoilage is never a problem. Almost forgot, I stopped and filled up on gas before I went home and as Im standing there freezing, I found a $50 bill encased in ice and snow laying under the edge of the softener salt that they stack up at the pumps:smiley_coolpeace:
