No mush here. After slicing we set on ice and salt to sweat them and it keeps them crisp.

Update on the new chickens. Roosters almost killed a hen and I put it down. Called my buddy and said since your a “cock” specialist I need some help. Chicken are just over 3 months and I wanted to make sure I wasn’t making any mistakes. FaceTimed him and as he pointed them out the new a22 mag went to work. It was difficult being video dude and sniper along with looking for clearance so I didn’t shoot another in the group [emoji1787]. So out of 15 hatched I ended up killing 8 roosters and lost a hen. Think it’s better to go buy hens then to feed half of them that will be roosters [emoji2373]. Anyway just thought I’d update.

On the bright side, my incubator came in and 110 quail eggs are coming in the mail 17-19. This should get interesting.

Well a few weeks ago I said I was going to raise quail. Been incubating eggs and they were on lock down since Sunday. The wife calls me and she was all excited on the phone. I didn’t know if something was wrong (my dad) or what. I ask her what’s going on and she tells me the babies are hatching. This is our first time hatching eggs. I was worried we wouldn’t have good results after I had 3 hours w no electricity one day. Anyway I’m a quail farmer now.

This weekend I will retro the grow out chicken coop. Divide it in half vertically and add an additional 4’. Should give me 6 - 3x4 pins. Figured to put 15 quail per pen but who knows yet. May keep one pen for a grow out pen to keep the birds in for eating. I’m excited, can’t wait for all this to come together. I’m sure the excitement will wear off and then become a chore like everything else.

It'll be chore that's very rewarding, though. Looking forward to following along!
