You guys are smashing some birds! Nice job & good luck!!

Hoping to finally have some time tomorrow morning. It's killing me not being out there as much as I'd like.

Hunted this morning . It sucked. Only killed2 ducks and 2 geese and one of the ducks was a ruddy . All good streaks must end .. . Killed close to 50 ducks this week with most being mallard except for 2 blacks 3 wigeon, and the ruddy.

6 of us hit a loafing pond in Richland County this morning and put the hammer to some honkers. We ended up 2 short of a limit... and man we really should have had them. We had 3 Benellis, 1 SX2, 1 SX3, and my Browning was the only gun that didn't malfunction today. It was just bitter cold out there.

We had a tough setup with the WNW wind. The birds wanted to work over our heads out into the pond (we were set up on the edge). The first flock actually landed in the pond, but we learned from it... Each flock thereafter tried the same thing, but we'd got on em hard with the calls and flag the shit out of them right as they went past... they'd bail out from the pond and swing right around for the finish. We got them all on film and should have some phenomenal footage.

Me and two buddies hunted the river this morning. We ended up killing 11 mallards. Had a ball of high flyers drop straight out of sky and in our dekes. Highest I have ever seen ducks drop. It was really cool. When they want in they get in. *other buddy not pictured along with the ducks he took.

Yesterday was a fun day and I never fired a shot.

Our duck opener is next weekend and we needed to do some serious work on our blind before then. We had a lot of birds flare in the early season and I think it was because of how bad the black rectangle with 4 sets of eyeballs stuck out. Not to mention the weather had done some damage to our brush job. I bought some camo netting and we covered the opening where we shoot out of, then cut shooting holes in it. Then we took a bunch of poverty grass and zip tied it to the netting and our brush. Once we were done it was like we had a brand new blind! I'm much more confident in it now.

We drove around another backwater at lunch and saw coots, blacks, mallard, woodies, and ring necks! That tells me birds are pushing our way because I never see ring necks down here until this time of year. They are in a spot where we could set up on them, so that may happen next weekend. We flushed 150 geese off a spot hoping they'd go to our spot for a jump shoot, but a cut corn field with 75 birds in it was too much for them to fly past. We ended up sitting in the blind for 2.5 hours to scout the afternoon movement in the area. We would have killed some ducks that's for sure! We got buzzed by 9 mallards that were in shooting range, had 3 that calls and dekes probably would have landed, then a lone drake I know we would have killed. We had a drake and hen hooded merganser float past the blind as well. We also saw a female bald eagle, which was an amazing sight!!!

I'm so pumped for the begging of 7 weekends of bliss!!!
