I have always wondered that as well. I've seen Cummins dropped into a lot of things but never a Cummins in a Ford mated to an Alison.
There was a company out there years ago that made adapter plates that touted you could mount anything too anything.... Mounting is one thing, that’s half the battle. But this day and age with all the computerized operating systems that’s where imho is where the issue would be....

Got some new wheels on the ol' chevy a couple weeks ago, completely transformed the truck

Sharp big nips!! How many ya got on her now? Please share some specs and thoughts so far on the miles.
Thanks Adam, shes got about 35,000 with the 6.0. Honestly not sure how shes geared. I'm a die hard GM man but the one thing I dont like about the truck is I feel like I need to chip it to get it to where it needs to be, the factory numbers are pretty good for hp and torque at 360 and 380 but I just dont feel like it's there. If you remember at the last outing at paint creek I asked you to trade but you shot me down. It's almost like you think a dirtymax is worth more than a gasser haha

It's a combination of going from 4.11's matched to a 4spd to the 3.73 with the 6or8spd (don't recall what it is on the newer models) shifting the power band I believe. I always enjoyed the snappy nature of the older combo, and I don't think there was much if any gain in the mpg department. Either way it's a sharp truck. Enjoy that new wheel/tire combo!

I've learned once you go glow plugs, it's REAL hard to go back lol.

I don’t know...I’ve gone back to the gas motor and love it. Bought another diesel and I’m back to sinking money. I’ve got faith that once I spend this money I’ll be done and have a solid tow rig, but honestly, that gaser did just fine. If I towed every day, I’m sure my story would be different.

If I remember right you said your wife's was the newer 6.2? If that's right, how do you guys like that? I haven't heard much about them.

For the record, I’ve put over 7,000 miles on a F550 with a 6.7 powerstroke and don’t see the hype. The truck loaded is around 18,000 lbs and gets 9 mpg. It’s a dog until the TC locks.

Yup, half ton with the 6.2. We love it. Everything you want in a DD with the ability to tow whatever you want. No tunes or anything. 425 hp and 460 ft lbs torque, more then any half ton can handle.

No shit? That's I pretty impressive jump between the 6.0 and 6.2. If my next one isn't a duramax I'd say that would be the way to go in a 3/4 ton.

My buddy loves his GMs. Hooked a 20' enclosed trailer to it with a Reatta inside. Drive to NC. Ascending hills he would start at 70 and was doing 45 and losing speed at the top. 4.11 gears and I think he had a 6.0. He is shopping again. 2014 model.

Lol, ohhhh Dave. See if you don't touch them or don't buy an abused one, then a diesel definitely outshines a gasser.

Lol, ohhhh Dave. It's a 6.7L Ford turd AND weighs 18K pounds. WTH you expecting to get, 20+mpg?!?! The last Ford diesel to get good mpg was the 7.3L, you know this.

Agree with 5cent. On the 450/550 sized trucks you only check mileage to ensure it is consistent. Make sure you don't have a sudden change indicating an issue. Our F450 and F550 both have the 7.3L and drink fuel much faster than their F250/F350 little brothers would with the same engine. They are heavy pigs geared to tow/haul heavy loads.

I’m thinking they take power out of these fleet trucks too. You just hear the powerstroke guys brag all the time and I really don’t see it. That’s all I’m saying. I threw mpg out just because.

I’m not sure they offer the 6.2 in a HD truck yet, Nip.

I do know that all these trucks trannys slip till you get to like 3rd gear when on the pedal to keep everything working correctly. Too much torq for the transmission.

When dodge first put their diesel in their truck they couldn’t keep the motor in the truck. From breaking motor mounts to destroying the tranny.

We used the bobtail RAM 350’s for towing our ground equipment, Giles and a few others know what I’m talking about. We went through a few transmissions when we first got them back in the early 90’s and they had less then a 100 miles on them. We called them paper transmissions....
