Trap line gun

I’m in the market for a new gun to use on my trapping adventures. I’ve been taking my trusty ol 22 which works great but it has sentimental value so I baby it. I want something that can get beat and banged up that I’m not worried as much about. Anybody have any suggestions? I open to anything.

For sure a .22 pistol. Sentimental also since it was my dad’s but holstered on the belt it’s protected pretty good. Nice and light also.

I as well, ran a 22 revolver or 22 mag. Gun in a holster beats the hell out of a long gun on a sling. Also lighter, the last thing I wanted to deal with was another heavy cumbersome thing to keep track of considering everything is that in trapping.

I bought a .22 Ruger from J for running a trap line and eliminate some raccoons. Then just recently I won a browning buck mark .22 in a raffle. So I have an extra .22 I would sell if you are interested. Although I agree a revolver is more dependable than a semi automatic
Yep I carried that Ruger for a couple years. Definitely an easy carry. But if on a budget, a model 60 would fit the bill.

Ruger Mark iv is a great rimfire. I had a browning buckmark and it would jam and also the firing pin wouldn’t hit the shell hard enough to fire it. Brand new gun and had trouble from the beginning. I traded it in for the Ruger. The Ruger has performed flawlessly.

I use a little badger 22 on the line. I wouldn't use a semi auto rifle or pistol because unless you're using full power cartridges, you'll have jamming issues running shorts or CBs

Running water line on foot you can't beat a handgun. For me it's a Ruger single six. Coyote trapping from my truck or quad I like this cheap Mossberg in 17 caliber. Small hole though the ribs into the opposite shoulder, no exit wound and a lot less blood during skinning.
