Truck Opinions....

1000008683.webp

Here is another link. I am currently trying to plan ahead myself and this article hits a point im thinking about. Buying used and paying cash or buying new. That is why I am searching for repair cost. I was surprised to see trucks on these list, so I shared it here.
They don’t think very highly of the RAMS…..

Just sent this to a buddy. He just bought a RAM one ton dually diesel. Said it was close to $10k cheaper than the Fords or Chevys…. Told him there’s a reason for that…..

These are all saying the same thing. One of them links had the Ram at a 54% chance of a major failure in a 10 year lifespan, wtf!

Just doing some reading and sharing. Both GM and Ford had some major recalls come out yesterday too. They are all great until they aren't. Overpriced junk. I've owned them all.
The main reason I went with Toyota is because they seem to face the problems head on and try to fix them the right way the first time, while the big 3 seem to want to patch things up halfway.

Extremely small sample set, but here is TOO data for those who have warranty work done on their truck. Wish those that had rejected warranty work would help add to the data, cuz it ain't there. This thread was created to keep things straight, as there is huge difference in buying new vs. used. There is no way to know what that product was exposed to when used, especially in the diesel world where deletions, programming, stealth, etc. is prominent. I scratch my head when people buy used and expect it to perform like new.

Dave, you have owned them all. What's that list over the last 10yrs. look like? I think only 1 was new and that was the GM 6.2 in the 1500?

I would put $ on it those Ram costs noted in the studies above are due to replacing mirrors when no trailers are attached🤣.

Still one of the best review videos out there

It had 2,000 miles on it. In the half ton world I woukd be looking for a tundra or f150 with the 5.0. Undecided on which one would be first choice. I really like some of the features Ford offers over the others. (No body rust, seats and tailgate) BUT I haven't been in the new body style tundra. That said, I did put my eyes on a 99' OBS GMC yesterday. Lol

Tundras latest version (3rd generation) doesn’t have a V8 option so that’ll narrow you down to the Ford.

The turbo technology has been out long enough that it doesn't worry me at all. I have a one ton truck that I am keeping. Fuel consumption doesn't bother me either. I just want something that has a cool factor (to me) that I can drive for 10 years/300,000 miles. The new hybrid tacoma is what I'm looking at for next year's purchase. OR just pay cash for something and continue to put cash in it to keep it on the road.

Right now I'm leaning towards a Chevy Trail Boss....
@Quantum673 has the GMC variation of this with the baby duramax. My neighbor had the Trail Boss with the same motor as Jon. Both seemed to really like them. Neighbor had to sell his due to a divorce but still talks about how he loved that truck and wished he could of kept it. Both had the fancy tailgate, just know that if you get that you will likely need to buy a new hitch or take it off when not in use.

If thinking of a higher end model truck, the ventilated seats in the GM products are top notch!
