I'm seriously laying in a corn field. These birds are shy and stay well out in the field in this dip. Today someone is waiting. Surprise mother fucker!

You might be in for a wait. I'm chasing the same bird I've been after for four hunts now. He is still sitting on the limb!

Well. He finally decided to decoy. Alex gave him two 3 inch nitro mags at 35 yards and he still sailed off into the sunrise.

Heard gobbles across the road or so I thought. Started off hill after them. We met in the middle. I should have just shot but didn't...45-50 yards. Apparently they were coming to my calls. They didn't spook and headed up the hollow. I ran back to my original spot and started calling. They got fired up but wouldn't commit inside of 150 yards, making a circle and going back across road. I just got permission to hunt that piece so I went after them. I set up and made a few calls...a moment later I hear something behind me....there stands 2 jakes at 10 yards. They turn and walk off. I call again and hear something over my right shoulder...there stands another jake at 25 yards. Tommy and Timmy never responded so I'm home...work nights the rest of the week. May try a quick hunt at daylight if weather is good.

There must be a lot of turkeys this year. For the first time in my life, I have seen turkeys on every hunt. There are usually a lot of days that I hear birds but do not see any. Not the case this year. And this season Mason and I have been hunting birds in an awful thicket which is more suited to rabbit hunting. It's crazy how close we have been to some of the turkeys before we could see them, and some of them have been birds we wanted to kill that simply did not offer a clear shot. Its fun and a good way to preserve a tag or two to the bitter end.

I screwed up!Had one roosted less than 100 yards from me and I didn't know it til he gobbled at 6:15. I let out a couple soft yelps and he flew down in my direction. Popped his head over the hill in full strut. Drew back when he got behind a tree, fucker disappeared again and I couldn't hold it any longer, turns out he was just cresting the other side and saw me let down[emoji35]

This is why they make guns!!!

Wow, didn't realize how cold I was until I got up and walked to the house. No turkeys seen or heard over that roaring creek. No deer either. Did see 17,357,986 squirrels though.

Same stuff this morning. Got within 100 yards of several birds on the roost. Some sounded like jakes. Others like toms. One came in silent from my hard left. Could only see his neck and head. He circled behind me spitting and drumming. Next time I'll just shoot. Meat is meat I reckon

That bird from Monday wasn't roosted there, just 3 hens spotted on that farm. Drove to another spot, 3 hens in the field. Drove to another spot and it was the same stuff as last weekend, the same 3 longbeards henned up strutting in the field. The landowner said he's been seeing them come down the gas line into his field around 11-12. Maybe I'll just sleep in and try to ambush them.

Bingo! With the shift you work, I wouldn't even go to the woods till 10.....
Was the bird not roosted there or you assume he wasn't cause he didn't gobble?
