Hey Phil, are you awake yet? Lol

I was finally able to get out and hunt yesterday morning. I still hunted my way into my stand at daylight. On the way in it was very calm, and I could hear deer moving to the south. I ended up seeing a couple of does and a nice fat 6 point about half way in. I let them pass and got into the stand around 8:15... Around 8:45 I saw a white rack moving through the brush 150 yards to my west, the buck turned in the crp and headed east towards me.

There was another smaller buck ahead of him, along with 2 does trailing behind. He was angling northeast through the trees and crp as I shouldered the muzzleloader and waited for an opening and an opportunity. Finally, when he got almost straight north of me he stopped in a spot 75 yards out with just enough room to slide a 245 grain powerbelt through....BAM! game over, he dropped instantly.

I had a little trouble locating him at first in the 5' tall crp grass and trees, when I got within 5 yards, I was greeted with a nice surprise....he was still alive and wanted no part of my presence....after a quick but very close follow up shot he expired quickly. He is just a nice solid 8 pointer, nothing fancy. With the very limited time I have right now to hunt, I decided to take him and just be happy with it this year, and I am. I will get some pictures up later.
