Maybe I am totally off on this but it seems like there are two different conversations here.
1. I 100% support any hunting activity that is legal within a state, province, etc. For the reasons mentioned above about losing other rights.
2. I believe the secondary topic here is would you support spear hunting with your company? Do you feel it is the best overall image? I see Mathews, Bowtech, and all the other companies out there supporting whitetail hunters who shoot deer over plots, bait, fixed blade heads, mechanical heads, etc. However I don't see them supporting guys hunting whitetails with dogs (although legal). I think there is a fine line between supporting your hunting heritage vs. antis and trying to define what a companies corporate image needs to be because we believe they should support every aspect of hunting. If UA was supporting a movement to outlaw spear hunting this conversation would be a lot different.
It's not about the % of how much hunters represent of their gross sales. It's about us not supporting them after they did not support us. Hell, they can do what they want but I feel it is masochistic to want to continue to support that brand.Of course companies whose only market is the hunting community will make those statements. Now go find that statememt from a company where hunters represent 5% of its gross sales. And go...
I don't know, the charged cotton shirt I'm wearing right now feels pretty good. Certainly nothing like hurting myself...It's not about the % of how much hunters represent of their gross sales. Gotta look past the brand and see the pending future.I don't know, the charged cotton shirt I'm wearing right now feels pretty good. Certainly nothing like hurting myself...
I disagree. I see both. For the sake of this discussion, I'm sitting on the brand side of the fence. I'm clearly a brand fanboy as I own a good 50-60 pieces of UA branded gear, so who better to argue in their favor? That said, I don't disagree with what you guys are saying about the whittling away at our rights. Very truthful argument.Gotta look past the brand and see the pending future.

I still think spear chucking is an asinine method of hunting in 2016. Just because we can (or used to), doesn't mean we should be. You mention masochism and IMO, that applies more to arrogant hunters who think promoting the spearing of bears is a good idea in 2016. That's self-inflicted.
This discussion reminds me of this poem by Martin Niemöller,
" First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me."
The basic premise is the same to me. They know they can't outlaw hunting all at once so they start by going after the least supported and when they get that outlawed they move to the next. We have more strength if we fight them together.
Could you share what exactly is a non-asinine method for ending the life of another creature?
I'll put my throwing accuracy up against anyone on this forum. I started throwing shit at 18 months and haven't quit. 30 years on a baseball diamond ans I'm I'll certain I can hit you square in the face from 60' 6" 97 out of a 100 times. You guys are nuts if you think there's even a comparison here because as seasoned a thrower as I am, I'll never come close to the precision of modern archery equipment. And to think of all the assholes at Walmart the week of bow season buying deer hunting spears over arrows is frightening. It's a ridiculous comparison IMO.
